Milwaukee's official Christmas tree was donated by a 93-year-old former Milwaukee firefighter

This year's City of Milwaukee Christmas tree arrived at its new home, Deer District, after being harvested Tuesday morning. The tree was donated by lifelong Milwaukee resident Erwin Boehme, 93, who said he planted the tree's seeds back in the mid-1980s on land he owned in Columbia County. When it grew to over a foot tall, he transferred it to the front yard of his Milwaukee home on North 58th Street.

De Pere apartment fire stemmed from exhaust fan

An exhaust fan fire caused about $10,000 worth of damage to a De Pere apartment complex Tuesday morning. Crews were called to 1015 Coral Street on the city's east side around 9 a.m. for a report of a fire in a second floor bathroom. All occupants safely evacuated and within minutes, crews extinguished the fire.

No danger to the public after chemical leak in Barron County

A chemical leak occurred at Jennie-O located in Barron County Monday morning. Highway 8 was temporarily closed and a temporary preventative shelter in place was implemented by the Sheriff’s Department, according to a social post via the Barron County Sheriff’s Department Facebook Page. According to a media release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, preventable shelter in place precautions that the Sheriff’s Department had out have been removed.

Milwaukee firefighters battle house fire

VIDEO: Milwaukee firefighters battled a house fire near 24th and Burleigh on Monday. According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the call came in around 7:30 p.m. Crews did multiple searches and determined no one was inside the building. We Energies was contacted, but gas and electricity had already been cut to the building.

Beaver Dam Fire Department Receives Grant From DNR

The Beaver Dam Fire Department recently received a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The agency is getting $10,000 from the Forest Fire Protection grant program which is available to state fire departments and county fire associations. The money, along with funds from the Beaver Dam Community Fire and Rescue Association, will help the Beaver Dam Fire Department replace its 2003-year model UTV and skid unit.

Defibrillator campaign brings 84 new AEDs to Door County, almost doubling its previous number

Door County now has almost twice as many chances to help save the lives of people experiencing a cardiac episode because of the Door County Fire Chiefs Association's Defibs4DoorCounty fundraising campaign. The campaign, which started in February and ran through Labor Day, raised $79,898 and combined those funds with a $75,000 challenge grant from an anonymous donor for a total of nearly $155,000.

Man, boy die in fire in Kenosha; neighbor hears explosion

A man and a boy died at the scene of an early morning apartment fire Sunday in Kenosha, according to authorities. Kenosha Police and Fire department personnel responded to the fire just after 1 a.m. that was discovered in a building in the 4900 block of 36th Avenue, according to a release from the Kenosha Police Department.

Resident and firefighter hospitalized in Beloit duplex fire

Two individuals were taken to a local hospital after a duplex fire in Beloit Friday night. The City of Beloit Fire Department responded to a duplex fire on the 700 block of Moore Street around 7:15 p.m. and additional fire departments from the surrounding area assisted. Fire officials reported one resident and a responding firefighter were taken to a local hospital.

Sparta: High School Students get hands on firefighter experience

The Western Youth Fire Fighter Training Program runs into it's second year. In a joint program between the Onalaska Fire Department and Western Technical College, high school students from around the Coulee Region got hands on training Saturday morning. A class of 13 students spent time getting familiar with firefighting equipment.

Crews respond to large fire at house in Lake Delton

Multiple agencies battled a large fire at a house in Lake Delton on Saturday night. According to a news release from Lake Delton Police Chief Daniel Hardman, the fire at 940 Parkway Drive happened just after 9:00 p.m. Crews arrived to find the house fully engulfed with flames. Hardman says everyone was out of the house by the time crews arrived on scene.

Ettrick Fire Department: Thankful for life saving donations

The Ettrick Fire Department hosts a number of fundraisers throughout the year. Recently, they received a couple of large donations that helped them purchase hydraulic jaws of life equipment. The jaws of life are used to pry apart vehicles after a car accident in order to reach the passengers inside. Ettrick Fire Chief Dennis Bishop said his crew has already used the new tool at a time when every second counted.

Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department thanks 15+ agencies who assisted in warehouse fire

Sun Prairie house fire causes $40,000 of damage

A fire Wednesday night, Oct. 26, caused $40,000 in damage at a home on Queens Street, according to Sun Prairie Fire Chief Chris Garrison. At 4:07 p.m., Garrison said, Sun Prairie Fire, Police, and EMS responded to the report of a structure fire on the 200 block of Queens Street. Garrison said the home's residents arrived home, opened the door, realized the house was filled with smoke, and called 911.

Wisconsin woman accused of setting ex-boyfriend’s car on fire, arrested on arson charge

Three people in Wisconsin were taken into custody after a woman allegedly set her ex-boyfriend’s vehicle on fire, which led to a confrontation. According to a release, around 3:30 a.m. on October 23, Madison Police Department responded to the 400 block of Parkwood Lane for a report of a vehicle on fire.

One trapped, another thrown from truck in Outagamie County crash

A two-vehicle crash sent two people to local hospitals, after a pickup truck and a minivan collided in Outagamie County. According to a release from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of WIS 54 and French Road in the Town of Osborn.

Crews battle industrial building fire in Manitowoc

VIDEO: Crews battled a fire at a large commercial building used for storage in Manitowoc. The scene is located at 102 Revere Drive. Part of S 21st Street is blocked near the fire. No one was inside the building when the fire broke out. At about 3:17 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call reporting fire at the building.

Follow Up: 6 who died in Heartland apartment fire had been shot

The six people found dead after an apartment fire in a southern Wisconsin village last week had been shot in an apparent case of murder-suicide, according to police. The bodies of a couple and their four children were found early Friday after firefighters were called to their burning apartment in Hartland.

Firefighters respond to hazardous leak from a truck trailer on Interstate 41 south of Fond du Lac

A flammable ink product was found leaking from a truck trailer Monday evening on Interstate 41 just south of Fond du Lac, according to city of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue. Law enforcement noticed a semi truck trailer leaking a liquid from underneath the cargo doors as the semi was traveling around 8:30 p.
