Lake-effect snow showers will impact Vilas County through tonight. The snow showers may be briefly moderate to heavy at times this afternoon and evening, with visibilities reduced to as low as a half mile. With temperatures near or below freezing, isolated slick spots on roads will be possible this morning, particularly on untreated surfaces, in any areas of standing water and elevated surfaces. A weather system moving from the Dakotas to southern Wisconsin will bring a mix of light rain, light freezing rain and light snow to the area this morning, along with some patchy fog. Snow amounts should be less than an inch, with a couple hundredths of ice accumulation possible. Pavement temperatures may continue to be cold enough for fog, rain or drizzle to freeze, even if air temperatures are a little above freezing. Treated roads will likely stay wet, but less traveled and untreated roads along with sidewalks and parking lots could become slippery even if drizzle is not freezing on cars, trees or other above ground objects. If you are traveling this morning, use extra caution and allow a little extra travel time. Treated roads will likely stay wet, but less traveled and untreated roads along with sidewalks and parking lots could become slippery even if drizzle is not freezing on cars, trees or other above ground objects. If you are traveling tonight into Wednesday morning, use extra caution and allow a little extra travel time. Special Weather Statement issued February 25 at 12:37PM CST by NWS Green Bay WI

A weather system moving from the Dakotas to Southern Wisconsin will bring a mix of light rain, light freezing rain and light snow to the area late tonight into Wednesday morning. Snow amounts should be less than an inch, with a couple hundredths of ice accumulation possible. Pavement temperatures may be cold enough for rain or drizzle to freeze, even if air temperatures are a little above freezing. Treated roads will likely stay wet, but less traveled and untreated roads along with sidewalks and parking lots could become slippery even if drizzle is not freezing on cars, trees or other above ground objects. Current indications are that the greatest risk of freezing rain and icing would be over northern Wisconsin, though there is a potential that this area could shift more toward central and east-central Wisconsin. Be sure to monitor later forecasts and statements if you have travel plans late tonight and Wednesday morning. Special Weather Statement issued February 23 at 9:19PM CST by NWS Green Bay WI

A brief period of light rain or freezing rain is expected across far northern Wisconsin between 11 pm and 5 am. While air temperatures may remain slightly above freezing in some areas, roads, bridges and sidewalks are likely to drop below freezing. Thus, any rain that develops may freeze on untreated surfaces, leading to locally icy conditions overnight. Those with travel plans across far northern Wisconsin tonight should be prepared for icy spots and locally hazardous travel conditions on untreated roads. Pedestrians should also use caution, as sidewalks, driveways and parking lots may become slick. The slippery conditions may linger into the Monday morning commute.
