A 61-year-old Stevens Point man pleaded not guilty Monday to trying to kill his former girlfriend and a man he found her with in bed by pouring gasoline on the bed and lighting it. Gary L. McDonald is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. A Sunday crash in Portage County killed one person and injured another. A vehicle driven by an 82-year-old woman, with an 81-year-old man in the passenger's seat, crashed at about 12:15 p.m. near Amherst Junction, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol. A Saturday afternoon house fire in West Racine caused an estimated $40,000 in damage but no injuries, the Racine Fire Department reported.
