Madison Fire Department rescues driver from wrecked dump truck after crash

VIDEO: The Madison Fire Department needed to bring a ladder truck to help rescue a driver whose dump truck had toppled onto its side. The truck rolled following a crash late Monday morning at the Wheeler Road East and Sherman Ave. intersection. A Madison Police Department statement about the wreck did not indicate what caused the collision or if any other vehicles were involved.

West Bend Fire Department holds pinning ceremony for new chief

An alarm, a ladder, and a neighbor: Children escape Fond du Lac house fire

VIDEO: Two teenage girls are being recognized for their quick thinking after escaping a house fire in Fond du Lac. They were home alone early Monday morning and used a ladder to make it out from a second-story window before running to a neighbor to call for help. Fond du Lac firefighters arrived on the scene at 130 West Division Street just after two teenage girls used a ladder to escape from their bedroom window and ran to wake up a neighbor across the street.

Fire at Waukesha transformer manufacturer, equipment caught fire

Firefighters battled an equipment fire at a manufacturer of transformers in Waukesha early Sunday, Nov. 5. Emergency crews were dispatched to Prolec-GE on S. Prairie Avenue around 1:40 a.m. Sunday for a reported fire alarm sounding. Plant supervisors directed firefighters to the location and probable source of the fire.

Portage Fire Chief Named First Responder Of The Year For The 41st Assembly District

State Representative Alex Dallman of Green Lake presented Portage Fire Chief Troy Haase with the 2023 First Responder of the Year Award for the 41st Assembly District. Lithium battery causes fire call to De Pere Middle School

Firefighters responded for smoke coming from a device in De Pere Middle School’s computer lab Tuesday morning. The school district sent a letter to parents explaining a lithium battery malfunctioned. No students were in the classroom at the time. Students and staff in that area were evacuated to other parts of the building.

Two pet dogs die in Manitowoc house fire, underscores importance of smoke detectors

Manitowoc firefighters are reminding residents of the importance of working smoke detectors after two pet dogs died in a house fire. At 1:16 p.m. Tuesday, crews were called to a home at 1212 S. 17th Street for a report of a kitchen appliance on fire. After arriving on scene within four minutes, firefighters were met with heavy smoke conditions.

3 injured in Merrill house fire

Four fire departments fight fire in Oconto on Halloween

Deputies investigate after Comstock Township firefighter’s gear stolen

Multiple crews respond to a garage fire in Onalaska

'Big heart and bigger smile': Cottage Grove firefighter dies in motorcycle crash

PHOTOS: A Cottage Grove firefighter died after a motorcycle crash in Madison over the weekend, according to the Cottage Grove Fire Department. The Dane County Medical Examiner confirmed Monday the man who died in the crash was 20-year-old Gavin Wendricks. Wendricks died after being hurt in a motorcycle crash on I-39/90 Saturday afternoon.

Beloit shows off its finest vehicles at the Truck or Treat event

Crews called to structure fire in Fall Creek Area Fire District

Former Hammond firefighter who died in I-94 crash remembered

VIDEO: Western Wisconsin first responders are grieving one of their own. James Shearer, who was killed in a tragic seven-vehicle crash on I-94 earlier this week, was not only a member of the Hammond community — he was a long-time member of United Fire and Rescue. According to a Facebook post from the group, James joined in 2005.
