Fire rekindles at Little Chute home

PHOTOS: Firefighters returned to a Little Chute house fire early Friday morning after the fire from earlier in the day rekindled in the roof and attic area. The Little Chute Fire Department was originally called out about 4:20 p.m. Thursday to the 1300 Block of Miami Circle for reports of a structure fire in a detached garage that was quickly spreading to the adjacent two story home.

Portage training new EMTs with help of state grant amid staffing shortage

VIDEO: The Portage Fire Department has found a potential solution to an immense staffing shortage in emergency medical services (EMS) thanks to a recent referendum in the community and a grant from the state. The department purchased two new ambulances to begin offering its own medical transport services in January 2025.

La Crosse first responders participate in disaster training at Central High School

First public health vending machine unveiled in Outagamie County

VIDEO: The first public health vending machine in Outagamie County was unveiled Wednesday. The initiative was spurred primarily due to opioid overdose deaths, which the county saw 95 from 2019-22. “Almost every single death has fentanyl in it. It’s, in the majority of the deaths that we see, causing these fatalities,” Outagamie County Public Health community health educator Cassy Stefl said.

Wisconsin to Receive Safe Haven Baby Boxes

VIDEO: Tragedy in Whitewater is prompting change a year after a newborn was found dead in a field. Two municipalities are getting Safe Haven Baby Boxes. Both communities hope this will help parents in distress. An anonymous climate-controlled Safe Haven Baby Box will soon be placed on a wall on the side of the Whitewater Fire Department.

Governor Evers signs bill legalizing xylazine testing strips into law

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers (D) visited La Crosse Tuesday to sign a bill legalizing xylazine testing strips into law. According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, there was a 19% increase in opioid related deaths between 2020 and 2022. In recent years, health officials have found the animal tranquilizer xylazine mixed with other opiates.

Green Bay garage fire causes leaking propane tanks, HAZMAT team called to assist

A garage fire in Green Bay Wednesday required assistance from a HAZMAT team after two propane tanks were damaged in the blaze. Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to 1321 Argonne Drive on the city's west side at 10:45 a.m. for a fully-involved two-stall garage fire. Crews arrived on scene to find flames coming through the roof and heavy black smoke.

Large emergency response at Oconto Middle School is a drill

Numerous first responders, including police, fire, and EMS, might surround Oconto Middle School Wednesday afternoon and evening. Governor signs bill empowering tactical EMS at Appleton fire station

VIDEO/PHOTOS: An Appleton fire station hosted the governor as he signed a bill that empowers EMS personnel. On Tuesday, Gov. Tony Evers signed Senate Bill 829 at Appleton Fire Department Station No. 1. The bill allows a tactical emergency medical services (TEMS) professional who is acting in the line of duty to carry a firearm in otherwise prohibited areas, such as fish hatcheries and wildlife refuges, school zones, and for the purposes of trespassing.

Egg Harbor Fire Department begins training with drones

When an emergency strikes in Egg Harbor, you can now look to the sky for help. The Egg Harbor Fire Department teamed up with Titletown Drones in Suamico to purchase a drone and for its subsequent training. Six fire department members are participating in the training that will allow them to conduct searches more quickly and efficiently.

Winona considers new fire station locations to replace current headquarters

Vernon County: Scott Yaun honored with Jefferson Award for over 40 years of firefighting service

VIDEO: The small Vernon County community of Wheatland came together to honor one of its own, Scott Yaun, for his unwavering dedication and selfless service as a firefighter for over four decades. Yaun used to live in De Soto, and one day he came outside to see his neighbor's house on fire. He started throwing snow in the windows and attempting to put out the fire however he can.

Lake Country first responder saves man on flight

Milwaukee fire crews investigate after south side barbershop destroyed in fire

VIDEO: Milwaukee Fire crews responded to a house fire near South 13th Street that spread from Dominican Barber Shop on Friday, March 23. The Milwaukee Fire Department said no one was injured, but the barber shop was completely destroyed. The owner of Dominican Barber Shop shared he's been at that spot for two years, often giving haircuts to baseball players and others in the community.

'They're going to jump:' 10 rescued in Edgerton house fire

VIDEO: On March 23. around 5:49 a.m., Lakeside Fire-Rescue, working jointly with Edgerton P.D., responded to multiple calls reporting smoke and fire coming from 503 Rollin Street in Edgerton. The fire blocked the floor's exit, preventing the tenants from escaping. With this information, Rock County 9-1-1 upgraded the incident, and additional fire and EMS units from Janesville and Stoughton were dispatched.

Hundreds of Fire Officials Come Together to Adopt New Skills in Stevens Point

Multiple agencies help in taking down large swamp fire in Pepin County

Multiple area fire departments worked to put out a fire in rural Pepin County Wednesday evening. According to Durand Fire Chief Jamey King, it happened in the town of Lima, near County Road T and L Poeschel Road. A 911 caller said there was a swamp on fire near the intersection. King said they could see smoke from miles away.

Waukesha fundraiser; first responders to play basketball, raise money

Waukesha South High School’s varsity dance team is hard at work on a special routine. It’s for a halftime show at an upcoming basketball game where police and firefighters will play against each other. Every move means something special to varsity dance team captain Julia Barron, a junior. This week, their family expanded to include a whole lot of grannies.

Waupun Fire Department battles vegetation fire as wildfire danger risk remains high in area

Around midnight, the Fond du Lac County Communication Center received a call that there was an area of tall grass burning at the north west corner of the Highway 26 and Highway 151 interchange north of Waupun.

Lincoln County to offer free mental health training sessions this spring

Lincoln County is set to give people free in-depth mental health training this spring. The county's Health and Human Services building will host the first of two planned "mental health first aid" sessions on April 1, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It's only available for the first 30 adults who sign up, designed to help spot warning signs of mental illness and substance use disorders and give people knowledge on when to start conversations with people who may need them.
