Community school in Green Bay determines what’s next for students after fire cancels school day

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire at Aldo Leopold Community School in Green Bay overnight as school officials figure out what’s next for students so close to the end of the school year. Classes at Aldo Leopold, on the city’s east side, were canceled as firefighters ventilated the building from a smoky fire.

Strong storms affect multiple counties including Fond du Lac

Training thunderstorms dumping several inches of rain in a short period of time caused the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory for parts of Columbia, Dodge and Washington Counties overnight Monday, June 3, 2024. Though the rain has stopped, the weather service says another half inch could fall Tuesday afternoon as more rain moves into the area.

Endeavor/Moundville Fire Department honors 38 retired firefighters

PHOTOS: In 1956, after a series of catastrophic fires, the Endeavor Fire Department was formed, later evolving into the Endeavor/Moundville Fire Department in 1997. On June 1, 2024, the Fire Department commemorated 38 of its department members, who were recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty.

No one injured, cats saved in house Sparta fire

Two cats were rescued from a house fire in Sparta Friday morning. According to a news release from the Sparta Area Fire District, it responded to a reported house fire on May 31 at about 8:04 a.m at 421 Hill St. in Sparta, Wis. Smoke was coming from a second-story bedroom when crews arrived. Those inside the home exited without injury.

La Crosse Fire Department rescues injured biker from Grandad Bluff

A biker had to be rescued from Grandad Bluff after falling and getting hurt Friday afternoon. The call came in around 2:45 p.m. according to Battalion Chief Jesse Walters in a news release. Given the location, 13 firefighters and six units went to the scene. They worked with dispatchers and used an app called What3Words to locate the injured person.

Buffalo County fire claims house and garage

VIDEO: A house and garage in Buffalo County are destroyed after a fire early this morning. The sheriff’s office says they got a 911 call at around 2 am for the fire, which was west of Mondovi. When crews arrived, they found the house was engulfed in flames. The two owners of the house were able to get themselves and their pets out without any injuries.

Two workers recovering after forklift accident in Racine

Two people are recovering after a forklift accident in Racine, leading to Flight for Life helicopters being deployed. The accident happened Wednesday, May 29 around 10am. The South Shore Fire Department and Mount Pleasant Police got a report from the Case IH Racine plant at 2701 Oakes Road in Racine of a tractor that had trapped 2 people.

Menomonie ambulance struck by paintballs while transporting patient

VIDEO/PHOTO: Authorities in Menomonie are looking for who shot paintballs at an ambulance that was transporting a patient. According to the Menomonie Fire Department, EMS was transporting a patient from Mayo Menomonie to Mayo Stillwater around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The ambulance took Stout Road to North Broadway and then I-94 West to MN 95 North into Stillwater.

Driver hospitalized after crashing into building in Green Bay

According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, crews were sent to the east side at around 10:40 a.m., and upon arrival, they found an SUV inside the first floor of a four-plex unit building.

Johnson Creek crews put out two vehicle fires along I-94

Johnson Creek Fire Department crews put out a vehicle fire Tuesday morning, then jumped back into action after a truck pulled up to the scene with a trailer on fire. Firefighters were called to mile marker 270 along westbound I-94 just after 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Crews found a passenger vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

VIDEO: Crash, semi fire closes I-41 in Grand Chute during morning commute

Drivers on a busy I-41 corridor through the Fox Valley were forced to find alternate routes after a fiery crash Wednesday morning. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. The semi-trailer was overturned in the northbound lanes. Mountain firefighter, former Assistant Fire Chief David Wirth retires after over 40 years of service

1 person dead after explosion and fire in Springfield

Rural business in Monroe County damaged in fire

PHOTOS: A fire has damaged a rural bar and gentlemen's club late Monday night. The Sparta Area Fire District was called to Baron's Gentlemen's Club west of Cataract just before midnight. As crews arrived, there were visible flames and heavy smoke coming from the building. Chief Mike Arnold said crews had a hard time putting out the fire.

Kewaskum house fire: Good Samaritans help 3 residents to safety

Catholic church in downtown Madison catches fire following storms

PHOTO: A Catholic church in downtown Madison caught on fire Friday after witnesses said they heard a loud clap of thunder as storms rolled through the area. The Madison Fire Department said it had extinguished the fire at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, which is blocks from the state Capitol and the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

House fire in Onalaska sends one to hospital

One person was hospitalized after a house fire in Onalaska Thursday night. Around 6:30 p.m., the Onalaska Fire Department received reports of an active structure fire at 212 4th Avenue South. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke rising from the back of the house. One victim was located inside and was evacuated to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Third grade students paint ceiling tiles to decorate Oshkosh fire station

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Instead of decorations lining the walls of Oshkosh Fire Station 17, there's artwork on the ceiling. Third grade students from Read Elementary School are the artists behind the project. "The kids were very excited when I told them," said art teacher Becky Bartow. "They drew pictures first and then transferred it right to the tiles and did beautiful paintings.

Fire chief says victim in deadly Wisconsin Rapids fire is 16-year-old girl

Wisconsin Rapids Fire Chief Todd Eckes says the victim in a deadly fire was a 16-year-old girl. The fire happened shortly after midnight Wednesday on 11th Street South. According to the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, three other occupants were home when the fire broke out, but were able to escape the building.
