PHOTO: Bayfield structure fire displaces 8 people

A Bayfield structure fire broke out Saturday afternoon causing fire fighters to battle the blaze for about 6-7 hours The structure fire happened around 1:00pm and then started to spread to the building behind it. The building effected spanned from Rittenhouse Avenue to Mannypenny Avenue. The fire originated in a residential building which has been deemed a complete loss.

No Injuries, Appleton House Fire Causes Thousands of Dollars In Damages

Firefighters in Appleton say no one was injured after a small fire at a home north of downtown Appleton Sunday night. Around 7:45 p.m., Appleton firefighters responded to the home in the 1700 block of North Division Street. They arrived to light smoke coming out of a second-story bedroom window, and all residents having evacuated.

Northside community garden in collaboration with the Milwaukee Fire Department

On Friday, April 15, community leader and founder of the "We Got This" community garden Andre Lee Ellis kicked off another community garden, this time in collaboration with the Milwaukee Fire Department. The event was supported by many Milwaukee Leaders like Mayor Cavalier Johnson, County Executive David Crowley and State Senator Lena Taylor.

Fire department says time 'was definitely a benefit' in Manitowoc business fire

Manitowoc firefighters responded to a business fire downtown at 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Smoke and a smell of burning wood were reported in a suite in a three-story building on the 900-block of S. 8th St., which is also Highway 10. People in the suite evacuated and notified people in other suites in the building about the smoke.

Beloit was among first communities to have paramedic program

Before the 1960s, funeral home hearses were used to transport trauma victims to hospitals, most heart attack patients did not live to make it to the hospital for treatment and there was no standardized training for treating patients outside of hospitals. It wasn’t until the mid-60s to early 70s that the foundations of today’s paramedic programs were formed, and Beloit was at the forefront of paramedic training.

'A rising concern across the state': Mequon and Thiensville make progress in fire department merger

The Mequon Common Council voted Tuesday night to approve an agreement to merge fire departments with the village of Thiensville. Thiensville, which approved a memorandum of understanding to share emergency medical services with Mequon, will vote on the agreement at a future meeting. Mequon City Administrator William Jones said Ozaukee County approved $5 million in federal pandemic relief funds to hire 18 paramedics and fund a study to determine how local fire departments should be consolidated.

Fond du Lac Fire Department donates sleeping bags, hygiene kits to students at Chegwin Elementary

The Fond du Lac Fire Department visited students at Chegwin Elementary School Tuesday, April 12 to deliver some items and give the kids a tour of their fire trucks. The firefighters donated 40 sleeping bags and 40 hygiene kits to 2nd graders. The students recently learned about community leadership and wanted to give the sleeping bags to children in their school who they identified as in need of these supplies.

Subcontractor seriously hurt in Camp Randall Stadium fire in Madison

A subcontractor working on the renovations at Camp Randall Stadium was seriously injured in a fire Wednesday morning, the University of Wisconsin revealed, adding new details to the initial Madison Fire Dept. report. According to the fire department, firefighters responded just after 8 a.m. to the Badgers home stadium after being alerted to a fire and an individual who had been injured.

Fire in Newbold caused by debris burning

At around 2:45 Tuesday afternoon, the Newbold Fire Department and DNR responded to a brush fire. Both agencies responded to the uncontrolled fire which occurred off of Lake Mildred Road. They were able to get it under control after nearly four acres burned. Lake Mildred Road is just off Highway 47 near the Newbold Town Hall.

Elderly individuals falling is most common 911 call at Rhinelander Fire Department

Falls were the most common form of injury for individuals ages 70 or older last year. That’s according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The Rhinelander Fire Department says elderly individuals falling is one of the most common 911 calls the department receives. Lieutenant Paramedic Adam Johnson says some falls just involve helping the individual back into a sitting or standing position.

Madison Fire extinguishes east side balcony fire, discarded cigarettes found nearby

After a balcony fire on the city’s east side, Madison firefighters are reminding residents Tuesday to properly dispose of cigarettes and other smoking materials. The Madison Fire Department responded to a fire at a residential building around 2:55 p.m. Monday on Brandie Road. Crews reported the fire started on a second-story building and was possibly spreading to the first floor.

Western, central Wisconsin experiencing very high fire danger

State officials are warning counties in western and central Wisconsin about a high risk of wildfires. On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reported very high fire danger in 28 counties in the western half of the state, from St. Croix and Taylor counties down to Dane and Green counties.

Sauk City woman celebrates 100th birthday with ride on fire truck

VIDEO: Not everyone gets the privilege of living to be 100 years old... but one woman in Sauk City turned 100 Wednesday. Fidalia “Dale” Breunig has four children, seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Breunig’s one wish for her 100th birthday was to ride a fire truck around town, so that’s exactly what she did.

La Crosse fire department breaks ground on new fire station two, headquarters

Work is officially underway on La Crosse’s new fire station. The department broke ground on Fire Station No. 2 on Monday. The station, on La Crosse street near the UW-La Crosse campus, is the city’s first new fire station in 55 years. Station 2 not only will house a crew but also will be the department’s new headquarters.

Four Green Bay firefighters call it a career

The past few months saw the retirement of four members of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department (GBMFD) – William Altschwager, Karl Markhardt, Corey Bereza and Brian Cairns – each hanging up their uniforms after years of service to the communities of Green Bay, Allouez and Bellevue. Together the four have more than 100 years of experience, some answering the call to duty for close to three decades.

2 dogs killed as flames engulf Rock County home

Two dogs died early Monday morning when a fire tore through a Bradford Township home, engulfing it in flames, the Sheriff’s Office reported. 2 seriously injured in propane-related explosion at Town of Niagara home

VIDEO: Two people were seriously injured in a large explosion at their mobile home in northern Marinette County Sunday morning. According to Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve, the explosion was reported at 8:50 a.m. Sunday at a home on Payette Rd. at Bomber Rd. in the Town of Niagara. It was heard by many people several miles away.

High winds cause Grand Chute duplex fire to spread

VIDEO: Multiple fire crews responded to a duplex fire near Fox Valley Technical College Sunday evening. The Grand Chute Fire Department (GCFD) reported to the 2900 block of West Big Bend Drive for a report of a garage fire at 4:38 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Robert Schipper. The Appleton and Fox Crossing Fire Departments were dispatched at the same time, following automatic aid agreements.

Superior High School Student's Senior Project Raising Money for Firefighters

A Superior High School senior took her senior project to new heights, highlighting the Superior Fire Department in a calendar that has raised money going towards the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Paige Hansen, an aspiring photographer, decided for the community service part of her senior project, to visit her local fire department, and find a way to repay them for what they do every day.

Eau Claire fire stations to get upgrades

A fire station on Eau Claire’s south side will be renovated and expanded this year, pending a vote Tuesday of the City Council. Under a proposed $1.98 million contract, Eau Claire Fire Station No. 6, 3020 Golf Road, would get additional space for personnel and equipment. “It’s not just adding space; we’re gutting the interior,” Fire Chief Chris Bell said Friday in a phone interview.
