Two cats died after a lightning strike caused a home fire in Lodi Wednesday morning, according to the Lodi Area Fire Department.
A news release said firefighters were called to a home on Chestnut Street at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Beaver Dam Fire Department is highlighting the promotion of one of their own. Firefighter/Medic Josh Coffey has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. He officially began his new role on Tuesday.
Coffey, a native of Georgia, began his fire service career with the Butts County Fire Department. Onalaska Fire Chief Troy Gudie will retire after 34 years, the City of Onalaska announced Monday.
Gudie started as a volunteer in 1989 before being hired on full-time in 1993. He eventually served 17 years as the Assistant Chief and was promoted to Fire Chief in 2020.
