Cottage Grove home a ‘total loss’ after fire, officials report

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is calling a Cottage Grove home a total loss after a fire on Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters from multiple agencies and Dane Co. deputies responded around 2:25 p.m. to the 4700 block of County Road N after multiple people told officials they saw a fire coming from the home.

Boat donated to Chetek Fire and Rescue

Fire chief settles wager by washing Antigo ladder truck

Study shows struggle for First Responders in the Badger State

'Fire Safety for Seniors' program launches in South Milwaukee

The South Milwaukee Fire Dept. has initiated a "Fire Safety for Seniors" program. According to a press release on Tuesday, Sept. 12, the program aims to provide senior citizens with free, lighter-weight fire extinguishers. The initiative was launched in response to a kitchen fire involving an elderly resident who had difficulty using a standard fire extinguisher.

Pickup truck crashes into Buchanan house; driver dies

VIDEO: A pickup truck crashed into a house in Outagamie County early Monday morning. The Buchanan Fire Department was dispatched for a report of an explosion at 4:30 a.m. When firefighters found the scene on County Road Z they found the driver of the pickup truck unresponsive. They started life-saving efforts but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Residents evacuated from large apartment fire in Milwaukee

VIDEO: The Milwaukee Fire Department responded to a large apartment fire this morning on Milwaukee's south side. Firefighters responded to a building at 21st Street and Mitchell Avenue for a two-alarm fire. Residents told 12 News the fire started around 3:00 a.m. Residents said they all got out of the apartment and were safe, and the Red Cross arrived at the scene to assist the resident.

Onalaska firefighters get donation of new equipment to quickly extinguish fires

Masonic Lodge 214 from Onalaska raised money to buy two more Fire Suppression Tools (FST) for the department, like one they previously donated to the firefighters.

Beaver Dam Fire Department Firefighters Join Fight To Thrive Exercise Program

Members from the Beaver Dam Fire Department recently took part in a program to help improve firefighter health and fitness. It is called Fit To Thrive and is designed to get those in the firefighting industry be more active, more often so they can experience the benefits of regular exercise. Beaver Dam Fire Chief Michael Wesle says this opportunity was available to them through grant funding.

First responders in Fond du Lac County use 3 words to locate people in emergencies

Fond du Lac County is making use of new, clever technology to get first responders to the right location. The technology, called “what3words,” converts numeric GPS coordinates into words. The words are then decoded by first responders using the what3words app in the field. Fond du Lac County Communications Director Amy Haase says this eliminates the risk of typing in a wrong number for GPS coordinates in degrees, minutes and seconds or decimal degrees.

$100K Grant from We Energies Foundation to Help Wisconsin First Responders

VIDEO: The We Energies Foundation awarded $100,000 to help first responders across Wisconsin purchase life-saving equipment. Officials joined the North Shore Fire Department and several other police and fire departments on Thursday, Sept. 7 to show off their newly acquired safety tools. Those include hazardous gas detectors, AEDs, an electric vehicle emergency response plug, and a speed detection radar device.

Madison Fire: Eastside nursing home kitchen shut down after fire

The kitchen of a nursing home on Madison’s east side is shut down after a stovetop fire, the city’s fire department explained Wednesday. The kitchen fire was reported to Madison Fire Department around 5:10 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters were told that the fire had already been put out while they were on their way to the 100 block of Belmont Road.

Sun Prairie firefighters to climb steps at Lambeau Field, honoring 9/11 fallen heroes

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will be at Lambeau Field in Green Bay Saturday. Funds From Fire Dues Program Awarded to Southern Door Volunteer Fire Department

Fire damages Door County resort

A resort in Door County will be closed for the foreseeable future after a fire. According to our Green Bay affiliate, the fire started around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Rowley’s Bay Resort in Ellison Bay. All fire departments from Door County were called out there. A local fire chief said it was a challenging fire to fight because the building has so many additions, which means additional layers.

Two people, including one firefighter, injured in Green Bay apartment fire

PHOTO: A firefighter and a civilian were injured in an apartment fire in Green Bay on Tuesday night, according to Green Bay Metro Fire Department Chief Matthew Knott. Knott tells NBC 26 the firefighter was treated and released for smoke inhalation. Knott said the fire was at a 24-unit apartment building on 1830 August St.

Labor Day wildland fire scorches nine acres in Waupaca County

VIDEO: A wildland fire burned nine acres of prairie grass fields and pines in Waupaca County. The Waupaca Area Fire District was dispatched to the fire just after 2 p.m. on Labor Day on State Highway 22, south of West Road in the town of Dayton. Firefighters from multiple departments, along with the DNR, were on scene for more than five hours, suppressing the fire until it was contained.

Fire severely damages Fond du Lac home

PHOTOS: The Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department responded to a house fire overnight, Monday, September 4, 2023 in the 200 block of north Military Avenue. Just after 1:30 AM, Jeff and Stephanie Albers awoke to the sound of their house’s smoke alarm going off. Running downstairs they saw the breezeway separating their house and garage fully engulfed in flames.

Dog alerts family of garage fire in Grafton

VIDEO: The Village of Grafton Fire Department says a dog alerted its family of a garage fire, allowing the family to get out unharmed. The fire department said it was called to the corner of 16th Avenue and Falls Road around 5:16 a.m. on Saturday. The initial engine company arrived five minutes later, and the garage was engulfed in flames.
