Failed Light Fixture Causes Fire At Waupun’s Prairie Ridge Assisted Living

A failed light fixture caused a fire at Prairie Ridge Assisted Living Center in Waupun. Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says his department was called to the facility just before 7pm Monday. While en route, crews learned that a Waupun police officer used an extinguisher to put out a ceiling light that had been burning.

77th anniversary of Woolen Mills fire in West Bend

Articles in the Research Center at the Washington County Historical Society, detail how the fire calls on Feb. 4 went out at 1:05 a.m. High winds drowned out the sound of the first siren so a second was sounded. The delayed response along with drifting snow that blocked local roads meant “the plant was doomed before the arrival of the local fire department.

DNR raising concern over possible spike in wildfires this spring in Wisconsin

Town of Oneida Volunteer Fire Department Has a Shortage of Firefighters

BUFF Program in Green Bay Takes Students From Ideas To Action

2 taken to hospital after rollover crash in downtown Madison

Budget cuts in Marshfield impact fire department hiring process

Budget cuts in Marshfield are holding up the fire department's hiring process once again. The Marshfield City Council has been dealing with budget shortfalls over the past few years, and because of that refilling empty positions within the city has been made harder. "Back in 2021, we had 12 people per shift, and then due to some budget issues, we went back to 11," said Jody Clements, Interim Fire Chief, Marshfield Fire Department.

Teen charged with arson in Sparta Walmart fire

Smith appeared in Monroe County Circuit Court via Zoom on Monday for her initial appearance in the case.
