Eau Claire house fire extinguished; two cats rescued

Two cats were rescued from a house fire that was put out in Eau Claire on Sunday. According to Eau Claire Fire Department Battalion Chief Jamie Burkhardt, ECFD received a call at approximately 2:23 p.m. on Sunday of smoke coming from the garage attached to a house on Raedel Road, near 14th Street in Eau Claire.

Beaver Dam Fire Department Receives Heavy Lifting Training

PHOTOS: Members of the Beaver Dam Fire Department spent a few days in last week’s sweltering heat working on heavy lifting training. Fire Chief Michael Wesle says the Beaver Dam Raceway recently hosted a monster truck show that included a few school buses. He says they got in contact with the folks that run the Raceway to take advantage of this rare opportunity.

City of Wausau announces new fire chief

The City of Wausau and Wausau’s Police and Fire Commission have announced the appointment of Jeremy Kopp as Wausau’s next Fire Chief. Kopp has been serving as a firefighter for 28 years since he joined to the Weston Fire Department at 18 years old. From there, he went on to join the Wausau Fire Department in 2004.

Green Bay, Appleton Fire Departments Receive Grants for New Lifesaving Equipment

The Green Bay Metro and Appleton Fire Departments were on the receiving end of $2,000 each in grant money to assist in the purchase of new lifesaving equipment. On Thursday, the charitable foundations of Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) and We Energies unveiled critical safety tools for use by the stations’ firefighters as part of the Rewarding Responders Grant Program.

Fire in semi hauling trash makes a mess for Beaver Dam firefighters

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Beaver Dam firefighters found themselves in a mess after a semi fire Wednesday morning, literally. The Beaver Dam Fire Department responded to the northbound off ramp at Highway 151 and Madison Street after a fire in the trailer of the semi, which was hauling solid waste at the time. To put out the fire, though, they needed to dump out all that waste onto the highway, leaving a trail of trash behind the semi.

South Area Fire and Emergency Rescue Awarded Wisconsin Public Service Foundation Grant

Madison fire displaces 7, leaves one in hospital

VIDEO: The Madison Fire Department is investigating the cause of an apartment fire early Wednesday morning. MFD says crews reported to a structure fire on the 2400 block of Brentwood Parkway just after 1 a.m. When they arrived, they confirmed that flames could be seen on the roof. According to MFD, the responding crews fought the fire outside first and then inside.

Lakeside Fire Department plans 3 new fire stations, one in fast-growing Newville

Milton and Edgerton’s newly combined Lakeside Fire Department is finding common ground for a new, central fire station. It would be built in a fast-growing community that’s wedged right between Milton and Edgerton: Newville. On Tuesday, officials from Milton, Edgerton and nine towns in northern Rock County got a first look at a hired consultant’s new designs for not one—but three new fire stations that Lakeside Fire-Rescue seeks to build over the next three years.

Lincoln County EMS upgrades equipment thanks to donation

VIDEO: The Lincoln County Emergency Medical Service (EMS) is getting updated equipment. That’s thanks to a $421,000 donation from the Bierman Family Foundation to upgrade aging ambulance equipment. Fire burns down one of 12 Trinity Freistadt Historical Site buildings in Mequon

Beaver Dam Fire Department Hosts Confined Space Rescue Training

The Beaver Dam Fire Department recently hosted a number of area agencies for a confined space rescue training. Fire Chief Michael Wesle explains its importance. “A confined space rescue is an event that doesn’t happen a lot but its very risky…normally when there’s an incident in a confined space there’s a reason for it…from time to time you might have a medical emergency or accident…but often times it’s because the atmosphere that the individual is in has something wrong with it,” says Wesle.

Family, dogs safe following New Berlin house fire, firefighter transported to hospital

PHOTOS: Nearly a dozen departments responded to a fire at a two-story home in New Berlin on Monday, Aug. 28. Just before 6:15 a.m., the New Berlin Fire Department was called to the home on Highland Drive -- located off Racine Avenue just north of I-43. Officials say two adults, two children and two dogs safely escaped the burning home and were able to call 911.

Duplex fire in Appleton causes $15,000 in damages, cause under investigation

A late Sunday afternoon duplex fire in Appleton caused an estimated $15,000 in damages. According to the Appleton Fire Department, on August 27 around 4:40 p.m., crews were sent to a reported fire in the 600 block of North Morrison Street. The initial call reportedly said there was smoke coming from the roof vents.

Fire in non-combustible Eau Claire warehouse under investigation

Early Saturday morning, a fire broke out in a non-combustible warehouse. The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a report of a fire alarm sounding at 04:45AM Saturday. The fire crew immediately requested for a full structure fire response after finding a live fire on the loading dock area of the warehouse.

Grand Chute Fire Department receives 9/11 artifact from New York Deli in Appleton

The New York Deli in Appleton announced that it will close permanently on Friday, August 25, 2023. The owners said they knew all about the struggle and sacrifice firefighters go through and called them up to ask if they would accept the gift.

Mock plane crash prepares emergency responders for disaster at Brown County airport

Business Space Damaged By Fire And Smoke In Brookfield

A commercial building in Brookfield sustained significant damage to its garage and smoke damage throughout after a fire broke out Tuesday evening, according to the Brookfield Fire Department. Firefighters found the single-story, medium-sized building in the 12000 block of Townsend Street with smoke inside, so they started an aggressive attack on the fire, ventilated the blaze, and performed search and rescue of the building, according to a news release.

Wausau Fire Department in early talks about new station

VIDEO: The Wausau Fire Department is asking the city’s finance committee to approve the purchase of an abandoned lot at 811 and 815 Grand Avenue in order to potentially build a new central station. The current station was built in 1962. At one time, it was deemed the most modern in the country. But that’s simply not the case anymore.

Fire at Green Bay apartment building displaces 4

VIDEO: A Tuesday morning fire at an apartment building in Green Bay has displaced four residents and has caused roughly $30,000 in estimated damages. According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, crews were called to the 1500 block of Main Street around 11 a.m. on August 22 for reports of smoke in an upstairs apartment.
