22 residents without a home after fire at Stevens Point assisted living facility

22 assisted living residents are without a home after a fire broke out at North Crest Assisted Living Wednesday night. Fire officials say the call came out at around 10:45 p.m. They arrived on scene to see smoke coming from the roof of the building. Stevens Point Fire Department Battalion Chief Jared Hopfensperger told NewsChannel 7 that he was the first to arrive on scene, and decided to update the call because he could see and smell smoke.

Boom Bay Volunteer Fire Department gets new vehicle for ice and water rescues

VIDEO: A new, all-terrain vehicle could help save countless lives during ice and water rescues in our area. The Boom Bay Volunteer Fire Department gave our Action 2 News team a first look. The vehicle is called a ‘Sherp,’ and it can travel through almost anything to rescue people. Boom Bay Fire Chief Dave Platta said it can tackle nearly everything from lakes to ice to swampy marshes.

Pine Lake firefighters see an increase in 'unusual calls to service'

Snowmobiler rescued in Columbia County after falling through ice

Columbia County officials rescued a snowmobiler who fell through ice over the weekend on Lake Wisconsin. A caller reported to Columbia County dispatch around 11 a.m. Sunday that two snowmobiles fell through the lake in Sunset Bay, noting one person was in the water and another person was still on the ice.

Milwaukee Fire Department battles deadly fire in bitter cold temperatures

VIDEO: One person is dead in a house fire in Milwaukee on Monday. Crews were called to the home near 9th Street and Burleigh Street around 3:30 a.m. Milwaukee Fire Department says a 62-year-old woman died, and an elderly man was hospitalized. According to MFD, the fire started in a bedroom on the second floor of the duplex, extending to the attic of the house.

Waukesha Fire Chief Howard Announces Retirement

After 36 years in the Waukesha Fire Department, Chief Steve Howard has decided to retire. Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly made the announcement in an email that Howard will retire effective May 1. "While it saddens us to see Chief Howard leave the organization, we acknowledge that his well-deserved retirement marks the culmination of nearly 36 years of exemplary service to the city of Waukesha," Reilly said.

Several homes evacuated, residents encouraged to wear masks as fire crews battle blaze at Beloit business

VIDEO: Flames broke out early Friday morning at a business near the intersection of Yates and Copeland avenues in Beloit forcing the evacuation of several homes in the area. Around 12:45 a.m., fire crews from around the region were called to 1515 Yates Avenue. City officials say the blaze will be difficult to extinguish because of current weather conditions and a large number of tires stored in the area.

Little Rice Fire Department acquires funding for community automated external defibrillators

Truck crashes into Regency Inn & Suites in Eau Claire, 1 person injured

Fire Station 17 on Milwaukee's south side reopens, paramedic unit added

One cat rescued in De Pere apartment fire that caused $50,000 in damage
