Wisconsin firefighters raise thousands for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Anumber of southeastern Wisconsin firefighters have helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Every year, first responder organizations affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters across the country host Fill The Boot drives. The drives involve firefighters hanging out on streets or in storefronts asking for donations to fill literal firefighter’s boots, with the money being donated to the MDA.

Viroqua apartment residents displaced after building fire

A fire in a large apartment building in Viroqua has forced its residents to find shelter elsewhere. The fire happened at a 24-unit building at 505 Chicago Avenue in Viroqua around 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Viroqua Fire Chief Chad Buros said that one apartment was "totally involved" in fire that was spreading into the hallway.

Firefighter featured in Milwaukee’s 2022 Firefighter Calendar for heroic efforts

Retired firefighter Chuck Roberts, from Eagle, participated in the American Lung Association in Milwaukee’s Fight For Air Climb a dozen times and in total raised $53,769. Now, the local firefighter is being honored for his amazing efforts to help end lung disease. The Lung Association launched its 2022 Fight For Air Climb Firefighter Calendar to honor local heroes and support its vision of a world free of lung disease.

Child playing with lighter ignites structure fire in Racine area; one person burned

A child playing with a lighter ignited a fire that injured one person and caused about $40,000 in damages. The South Shore Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of Howe Street at about 8:05 p.m. Tuesday on the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters located the fire in an upstairs bedroom.

Green Bay Metro firefighters say heavy smoke made it difficult to battle a fire in a large warehouse Tuesday night. Husband and wife victims of fatal small plane crash in Waukesha County

Both occupants of a small aircraft that crashed in the Village of Waukesha Tuesday have been pronounced dead by authorities. Family identified the victims as 74-year-old Randy and 70-year-old Susie Reimer. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Wisconsin passes 750,000 coronavirus cases, 40,000 hospitalizations

1 hospitalized in rollover in Madison

A driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a rollover crash. According to an incident report from the Madison Fire Department, they responded to a report of a "flipped car" on the 2500 block of Independence Lane just before midnight Sunday. On scene, responders found a minivan on its drivers side with the driver being the only person in the car.

Firefighters are investigating after a fire damaged A Family Affair Soul Food Kitchen Sunday night. I-94 reopens in Waukesha County after fiery semitruck crash

All lanes on I-94 eastbound near County F/Redford Boulevard in Waukesha have reopened after a semi-truck crash and fire near Goerke's Corners. The crashed happened just after 5 a.m. Thursday. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the semi-driver hit the US 18 overpass and was ejected from his truck.

Ceremony to honor six Wisconsin firefighters, EMS personnel who died in the line of duty

Firefighters from across the state will travel to the Wisconsin State Firefighters and EMS Memorial on Saturday to honor six firefighters who died in the line of duty, including three who died from COVID-19. A one-carrier fire and EMS provider is in the town of Merton's future, but for now things will remain the same

The Merton Town Board has agreed to extend its contract for fire and emergency medical services by six months with the privately operated Merton Community Fire Department. According to Merton Chairman Tim Klink, the contract extension will expire June 30. Klink said the goal for the town is to have a single-carrier system for fire and EMS at some point.

Onalaska Fire Department using National Fire Prevention Week to teach fire safety

Madison firefighters rescue 1 person during fire at men's shelter

One person was rescued from a fire at a temporary men’s shelter Tuesday night, according to the Madison Fire Department. Firefighters responded to the blaze at 200 North First Street in Madison at about 10:12 p.m. The crew entered the building to investigate and found gray smoke in a room and a mattress inside that was on fire.

Milwaukee honors fallen firefighters; 141 who died in line of duty
