Overnight fire damages Two Rivers home

VIDEO: Three people escape a house fire in Two Rivers. The fire chief says his crews contained the fire to the attic, but there’s still some heavy damage to the home. 19-year-old drowns at Washington Park in Milwaukee

One person is dead after an apparent drowning at Washington Park in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office told WISN 12 News it was called to the park's pool near 40th and Galena streets. Officials with the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee Fire Department and Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene just before 11:00 p.

Overnight Fire Damages Sheboygan Home

Sheboygan fire crews are investigating today after an overnight fire damaged a home. Dispatchers got a call around 3:10 am on Tuesday of a fire at a home on the 1600 block of North 4th Street. Fire crews arrived to find a significant fire on the back side of the home. The resident who made the call told firefighters he was the only person inside, and crews moved in to put out the flames.

NFL player JJ Watt suits up as hometown Pewaukee firefighter for heat safety campaign

Former Wisconsin Badger JJ Watt tried firefighter training with his dad at their hometown fire department for the Gatorade Beat the Heat education campaign. Inmate accused of trying to arrange hit is headed to trial JJ Watt’s father, retired firefighter John Watt, joined him at the Pewaukee Fire Department and tried the physical and technical training firefighters conduct, according to a release.

Fire destroys Pardeeville barn

Four fire departments battled a blaze Tuesday that destroyed a barn in rural Pardeeville. The Pardeeville Fire Department was called about 12:30 p.m. to 9580 Comstock Road, where firefighters found a barn storing hay bales engulfed in flames. The family at the farm reported the fire started when they had gone inside for lunch.

Wisconsin Rapids fire departments helping install smoke detectors

VIDEO: Local fire departments in the area are partnering up with WIS SAFE, also known as the Wisconsin Smoke and Fire Education Program and the North Central American Red Cross to install smoke detectors in homes that don't have them. Currently they're targeting homes which are high risk, such as those with the elderly, disabled, low income, and middle school aged children.

Fire destroyed Roxbury machine shed, nobody hurt in blaze, authorities say

A shed housing machinery and hay was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning in the town of Roxbury, with nobody injured in the fire. The fire was reported at about 1:25 a.m. on a farm at 7772 Inama Road, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said. Firefighters responded from seven area departments, including Sauk City, Sauk Prairie, Prairie du Sac, Dane-Vienna, Black Earth, Mazomanie and Lodi.

One person taken to the hospital after a house fire near Fall Creek

VIDEO: Crews say one person was taken to the hospital after a major house fire near Fall Creek. Firefighters were called to Dewitz Road, in the Town of Washington, before 3 p.m. on Monday. When they arrived, crews say the house was fully engulfed. The home is a total loss. Mark Porter, with Township Fire, said a lawnmower caught on fire.

Police: Man wanted in arson fire at Wausau bar turns himself in

A 38-year-old Wausau man was arrested Monday in an arson fire at the Cabaret Bar, Wausau police said. Tony Patterson Jr. turned himself in without incident, a lieutenant said. Patterson is one of two men that police identified last week as “persons of interest” in the fire. The other was a 32-year-old Wausau man.

A dispute between the village of Lake Hallie and four towns over how the Chippewa Fire District is funded is winding toward a conclusion. Wedding reception evacuated following carbon monoxide incident in Madison

More than two dozen people were taken to a hospital Saturday night when carbon monoxide poisoning forced the evacuation of a wedding reception on Madison’s East Side, according to the Madison Fire Department. Emergency personnel were called to the indoor soccer club Salon Centinela, 5018 Blazing Star Drive, after someone fainted during a wedding reception there, said Madison Fire Department spokeswoman Cynthia Schuster.

Mount Horeb lumber store sustains as much as $1 million in fire damage

A lumber components store in Mount Horeb suffered as much as $1 in damage after a fire Saturday, the Mount Horeb Fire Chief said. The Mount Horeb Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Brunsell Lumber and Millwork, 1204 E. Lincoln St., just after 4:20 p.m., Craig Brinkmann said. Responding firefighters encountered heavy black smoke throughout the building.

Racine dive training helps improve local readiness
