Firefighters rescued a dog from a burning van Wednesday afternoon. Lake Geneva firefighters were dispatched at 12:56 p.m. for a report of a car fire in the parking lot the Walmart, 201 N. A fire at a Sturgeon Bay law firm extinguished on its own Monday morning, but not before destroying boxes of legal records and a door. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department received a call of smoke in the 454 Kentucky St. office building at 7:35 a.m., said Sturgeon Bay Firefighter Ethan Jorns. The city of Appleton might buy four new fire trucks from a local company, over the next four years. In all, the Pierce Manufacturing trucks would cost more than $2.6 million. Ald. Kyle Lobner says they would get a better price with a package deal. Two passengers of a vehicle that broke through the ice on Rock Lake are OK after being rescued on Tuesday afternoon.
