Man pleads guilty in Madison office building arson that caused $100,000 in damage

A man authorities say vandalized and started a fire in a South Side Beltline office building in 2016 pleaded guilty to felony arson Tuesday. Dustin Palmer, 30, whose last listed address was in Reedsburg, pleaded guilty in Dane County Circuit Court to the arson of a South Side Madison office building on the evening of Oct.

Monday morning fire in Elk Mound considered suspicious

A Monday morning fire that rendered a long-time vacant Elk Mound home a total loss is considered suspicious, Chippewa Fire District officials said. Firefighters responded around 3:30 a.m. to the blaze at 2024 40th St., where they found the two-story structure engulfed in flames, according to a release from the fire district.

Explosion reported at grain elevator in Brodhead

Firefighters are at the scene of an explosion at a grain elevator in Brodhead. The Brodhead Fire Department said the explosion happened at 11:15 a.m. at Farm-City Elevator on County Road T. Crews are still on the scene and the cause is not known. Crews arrived on scene and asked for a ladder truck from the Monroe Fire Department, officials said.

Truck hits overhead sprinkler head, gets lodged in door, Madison Fire says

A U-Haul user wasn't having a very good moving day on Saturday, getting the truck stuck in the doorway of an underground garage and tearing off a sprinkler head in the process. The incident happened at about 10:50 a.m. at an apartment building in the 700 block of Glenway Street, the Madison Fire Department said.

Extra help needed at fire on Milwaukee's south side

VIDEO: Milwaukee firefighters called in extra help to fight a blaze on the city’s south side Monday afternoon. The MFD responded to a house fire that spread to the home next door near the corner of Lincoln Avenue and 18th Street. Authorities have not yet determined what caused the fire, however, neighbors called the house where the fire started a “problem house” involved with drugs and prostitution.

BUG Assistant Chief Is Legion’s Outstanding Firefighter

After 33 years on the Brussels, Union, Gardener Fire Department, not much surprises Jim Wautier. However, he was surprised to learn several weeks ago that the Wisconsin American Legion would be honoring him as its Outstanding Firefighter for the state. Crews respond to house fire in Schofield

Crews responded to the scene of a residential fire in Schofield Monday morning. According to dispatch, several agencies were sent to 113 Williams Street at approximately 5:45 a.m. for reports of a structure fire. Madison firefighters hold new fundraiser for "Fill the Boot" campaign

For years Madison firefighters have stood on street corners with a boot in hand raising money for muscular dystrophy. After the city of Madison banned panhandling in busy traffic spots across the city, Fire Fighters Local 311 decided to hold the first ever "Fill the Boot" beach party. "We tried to branch out and think of new ideas so we came up with this charity event," said Justin Tews, who is a Madison Firefighter.

Child playing with lighter sparks house fire in Germantown; no one injured

The Germantown Fire Department responded to the scene of a house fire on White Pine Ct. early Friday morning, July 14th. The call came in around 1:10 a.m. Upon arrival, officers observed smoke coming from the utility room of the home. All occupants were able to exit safely. An officer on scene used dry powder fire extinguisher to “knock” the fire down.

Eagle Point fire station vote tentatively set for Monday, Oct. 2

Sussex firefighter who crashed fire truck after drinking given fine

Superior Guns-n-Hoses: Rivalries heat up

Two friendly rivalries heat up as South End Days begins July 21. One takes place on the field, when the Superior Fire Department faces off against the Superior Police Department. Wausau Fire Department adds rescue airboat to fleet

The Wausau Fire Department has a new way to perform rescues out on the water. The department took delivery of a new rescue airboat Wednesday morning in Wausau. Deputy Fire Chief Josh Klug tells NewsChannel 7 personnel will begin training on how to use the boat in the upcoming weeks. Klug said the airboat will give the fire department more versatility when performing water rescues, as its design allows it to go on water, ice, and even muddy land in some situations.

Construction on new Kenosha fire station to start next year

Work on a new fire station for the Kenosha Fire Department could begin next year.
