Portage County fire department warns community on potential scam

VIDEO: Stevens Point authorities are asking the public to stay vigilant to a potential "scam" going around the area. A group called "Volunteer Fire Fighter Alliance" is soliciting funds under the departments name, fire chief Robert Finn posted on Facebook. Finn said the department is in no way connected to the group.

Deer rescued from ice in Oneida County

VIDEO: The Pelican Fire Department rescued a deer from the ice Sunday morning. According to their Facebook page, they were notified a deer had fallen through the ice on the Pelican River. The deer was unable to get out of the river. Firefighters were able to rescue the deer. They said she stuck around for a few minutes and then went on her way.

Calumet County driver pulled from burning truck

VIDEO: The driver of a pickup truck that rolled over early Saturday on Calumet County M was injured and unconscious when he was pulled from the fiery wreckage by neighbors who rushed to help. Capt. Patrick Klein of Harrison Fire Rescue said the outcome could have been much different had the neighbors not been awakened by the sound of the crash about 3:45 a.

Hudson Common Council: Joins ACCE, establishes fire department officially

With a tie-breaking vote from the mayor, the Hudson Common Council voted 4-3 to join the American City County Exchange (ACCE). Membership to the exchange, a nonpartisan forum for local leaders, was proposed after the city joined the National League of Cities. Council members Joyce Hall, Jim Webber and Randy Morrissette cast the opposing votes.

Dry weather increases outdoor fire threat, officials say

The long stretch of dry weather in southern Wisconsin is increasing the chances for outdoor fires this spring, so local fire officials are warning residents about illegal burning. The Madison Fire Department said the only outdoor fires allowed in the city are fires in fire pits, with the burning of yard waste prohibited.

Private ambulance rollover in Kenosha County leaves one injured

A private ambulance rolled over in Kenosha County early Friday morning. An official with the sheriff's office said the crash happened around 3:00 a.m. near 10th Street and Sheridan Road in Somers. A person at the scene told WISN 12 News the ambulance clipped a fire hydrant, hit a utility pole then flipped over multiple times.

Driver killed in Jackson County crash identified

PHOTO: Durry Kennedy, 48, of San Antonio, Texas, was identified Thursday as the driver killed early Wednesday after rear-ending a semitrailer on Interstate 94 near Black River Falls, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol. Gov. Walker signs Save Our Pets emergency rescue bill into law

Wisconsin first responders will be able to help pets during emergency situations without waiting for a veterinarian under a bill signed into law by Gov. Scott Walker. The Save Our Pets law was authored to allow firefighters and other emergency crews to provide emergency care to dogs, cats, and another pets.

Beaver Dam firefighters battle midnight apartment fire

Just after midnight Wednesday morning around 12:15 a.m. Beaver Dam firefighters responded to a fire in a home on Wayland Street. When officials arrived they saw smoke and flames coming from an apartment. Firefighters were told that everyone had evacuated. Residents from two apartments were displaced, but the other tenants were allowed to return.

One injured, eight displaced after fire in Racine duplex

One person was transported to the hospital and eight residents were displaced after a structure fire in a Racine duplex Wednesday afternoon. Racine firefighters were dispatched at 1:22 p.m. to 419 Park View Drive, located north of West Sixth Street and Island Park and east of the Root River, for a report of a kitchen fire.

Mosinee area barn total loss following fire

VIDEO: A barn burned to the ground in the Town of Mosinee in Marathon County Wednesday afternoon. The fire started just before 2 p.m. on the 1400 block of Moon Road. No animals were inside the barn and nobody was injured. A Marathon County Sheriff's deputy tells NewsChannel 7 the fire started in the southeast corner of the barn where hay was being stored, the barn was empty otherwise.

Waupun fire destroys garage, damages buildings

A late night fire in Waupun Tuesday destroyed a garage and damaged two other buildings. Waupun firefighters arrived just before 11 p.m. to 206 Monroe St. to find the garage engulfed in flames, with fire extending to the house and a neighboring garage, said Chief B.J. DeMaa. Fire crews quickly knocked down the blaze that had extended to the house and neighboring garage but not before the flames caused moderate damage.

Voters fighting for new Campbell firetruck

It's a half-million-dollar question: Should the town of Campbell Fire Department get a new firetruck? On April 3, voters will decide if a pumper truck that is more than three decades old should be replaced with a new one. "The tank is rusted. The truck leaks. Anonymous donor gives $20,000 to Wales-Genesee Fire Department

Western Lakes Fire District crew delivers baby in Oconomowoc home

A scary situation early March 27 had the best possible outcome. Western Lakes Fire District emergency crews responded to a call at an Oconomowoc home at about 4 a.m. and delivered a healthy baby girl. According to Western Lakes Fire Chief Brad Bowen, the mother and baby were taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital, where both were listed in good condition.

Arson charges against former Madison man over car fires downtown

A former Madison man is charged with two felony counts of arson and other crimes, after two cars in downtown Madison were set on fire last month.24-year old Darryn Taylor of Whitmore Lake, Michigan remains free on $3,000 bail, after a Monday Dane County court appearance. Fire causes ‘substantial damage’ to Fond du Lac garage, cause electrical in nature

Firefighters on Monday night, March 26 responded to the scene of a garage fire on Maple Avenue near Ray Street in Fond Du Lac. The call came in shortly before midnight. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke coming from the building and made a fire attack on the garage. The fire was contained to the garage, but not before substantial damage occurred.

Overnight house fire in Brown County

VIDEO: No one was hurt after an overnight house fire in Brown County. It broke out around 1 a.m. Tuesday at a home in Langes Corners, which is near Denmark. It started out as a garage fire, but quickly spread to the home on Steves Cheese Road. "We have extensive damage to the first floor of the home and we have smoke and water damage extensively, second floor has a lot of smoke damage.

Onalaska Town Board backs agreement with La Crosse Fire Department

The Onalaska Town Board was in full agreement regarding a proposed agreement between the Holmen Area and La Crosse fire departments for equipment servicing. At its March 13 meeting, the board voted to recommend the Holmen Area Fire District Board Association partner with the LCFD to do mechanical work on HAFD’s vehicles and other equipment.
