Racine house fire; Cause under investigation

Firefighters on Tuesday, Nov. 8 responded to the scene of house fire near 9th Street and Wisconsin Avenue in Racine. Upon arrival at the fire, flames were visible at the rear of the single-family dwelling. The fire burned portions of the exterior and interior of the house. Officials say the fire had traveled through the walls, attic and eaves.

Electrical issue caused fire under porch on Madison's west side

The Madison Fire Department (MFD) confirmed the cause of a porch fire on the city's west side Sunday was due to an electrical malfunction. MFD spokesperson, Cynthia Schuster, said crews responded to the 200 block of South Allen Street around 12:00 p.m. to a reported house fire. Firefighters arrived to find the homeowner outside, who told them the fire started under the porch where a space heater was to keep two exposed water pipes from exposure to the cold.

Teenager airlifted after 20-foot fall from tree stand in Buffalo County

A 16-year-old boy from Wabasha was injured Sunday after falling approximately 20 feet to the ground while climbing to his tree stand, according to authorities in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened around 1 p.m. near a home on Brantner Road in Modena Township.

Beaver Dam Fire Department Receiving Grant Funds From The State Health Department

The Beaver Dam Fire Department has received a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The department is in line for $106,805 from the Emergency Medical Services Flex Grant program. The governor authorized $32-million-dollars in funding to assist licensed EMS agencies. The move was triggered by the COVID pandemic and the associated economic impacts which has effected EMS services throughout the state.

South Shore Fire Department's first-ever chief has died

Bill Bouma, the South Shore Fire Department's first-ever chief, has died. Bouma retired Oct. 4, 2012, after serving as the first chief of South Shore following the merger of the Sturtevant Fire Department and the Mount Pleasant Fire Department, which he had also been chief of. Among his achievements was establishing MABAS (the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) in Wisconsin, allowing fire departments to more easily call for help from neighboring departments.

Sauk City community raises money for firefighter with brain tumor

Mike Bruenig has served on the Sauk City Fire Department for many years. Now, the Sauk City community is coming together to help serve him after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. “We had to do something for Mike. He's always there for us. So, we decided that I need to help him,” Patrick Bourdeau said.

Beaver Dam Fire Department honors 10 members at pinning, promotion ceremony

Several members of the Beaver Dam Fire Department were honored on Friday night during a badge pinning and promotion ceremony at the fire station. The guests of honor were those who completed their probation as paid-on-call firefighters — Sophie Willihnganz and Joey Mays — and those who completed one year of probationary training as a fulltime firefighter/paramedic — Bryce Hicken, Emily Seifert, Mike Weinke and Justin Woldt.

Crews put out fire at De Pere business

Crews responded to a fire at a De Pere business overnight. Firefighters were dispatched to the C.A. Lawton Company at 1900 Enterprise Drive around 12:30 a.m. Friday for a report of fire in the building with flames showing. When first units arrived, employees were exited from the building and crews didn't see any smoke or flames showing from the exterior.

Burning leaves get out of control, destroy Oconto County cabin

Nobody was hurt, but a cabin near Mountain is a complete loss after a ground fire quickly spread Thursday night. Six or seven fire departments were called to a brush fire along Maiden Lake shortly after 6 P.M. By the time firefighters could reach the area, the fire had overtaken the cabin. Crews say the home was built on a hill so it was hard to get water up to it.

Three treated at scene of meat market fire in Fond du Lac County

An Eden institution was heavily damaged by fire Thursday morning. At about 9:07 a.m., Fond du Lac County deputies and Eden firefighters were called to Eden Meat Market, 115 E. Main Street, for a report of a bacon grease fire. Crews arrived to smoke and flames coming from the back of the building. “They were preparing bacon at the rear of the structure here, and the fire that they use to create the smoke to smoke the bacon penetrated the floor into that bacon grease and the fire was on from there,” Eden Fire Chief Kyle Salter said.

Patrons evacuated after fire at Fish Tales Restaurant in Lodi

Guests were evacuated Wednesday from a Lodi restaurant after a fire broke out in the kitchen, fire department officials said. Lodi Area Fire Department Assistant Chief Nate Sievers said the report of a fire and smoke in the kitchen came in just after 4:45 p.m. at Fish Tales Restaurant, located at W12690 WI-188 in Lodi.

Five municipalities have been added to the Edgerton Fire Protection District

Local leaders took a step forward to keep Rock County residents safe Wednesday night. 10 municipalities have voted to add five more towns to the Edgerton Fire Protection District. Man seriously injured Milwaukee apartment fire

Firefighters on Thursday morning, Nov. 3 responded to the scene of an apartment fire near 24th and Hampton. The call came in around 3:17 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 52-year-old man that had burns from a small fire that started in the bathroom. The fire seems to be accidental. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Balcony fire at an Appleton apartments, $70k in damages

Crews in the Appleton area responded to reports of a fire on a second-floor balcony at an apartment building on Tuesday morning. Milwaukee's official Christmas tree was donated by a 93-year-old former Milwaukee firefighter

This year's City of Milwaukee Christmas tree arrived at its new home, Deer District, after being harvested Tuesday morning. The tree was donated by lifelong Milwaukee resident Erwin Boehme, 93, who said he planted the tree's seeds back in the mid-1980s on land he owned in Columbia County. When it grew to over a foot tall, he transferred it to the front yard of his Milwaukee home on North 58th Street.

De Pere apartment fire stemmed from exhaust fan

An exhaust fan fire caused about $10,000 worth of damage to a De Pere apartment complex Tuesday morning. Crews were called to 1015 Coral Street on the city's east side around 9 a.m. for a report of a fire in a second floor bathroom. All occupants safely evacuated and within minutes, crews extinguished the fire.

No danger to the public after chemical leak in Barron County

A chemical leak occurred at Jennie-O located in Barron County Monday morning. Highway 8 was temporarily closed and a temporary preventative shelter in place was implemented by the Sheriff’s Department, according to a social post via the Barron County Sheriff’s Department Facebook Page. According to a media release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, preventable shelter in place precautions that the Sheriff’s Department had out have been removed.

Milwaukee firefighters battle house fire

VIDEO: Milwaukee firefighters battled a house fire near 24th and Burleigh on Monday. According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the call came in around 7:30 p.m. Crews did multiple searches and determined no one was inside the building. We Energies was contacted, but gas and electricity had already been cut to the building.
