Burn Camp Ride bring riders to western Wisconsin

Community motorcyclists are taking a ride to help others. The 10th annual ‘Burn Camp Ride’ started Saturday morning in West Salem. Riders then made stops at communities throughout the area. And It’s more than just a good time, money raised supports the Burn Camp coming in August in eastern Wisconsin.

Janesville resident burnt after siphoning gas from car with vacuum

A Janesville resident was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in their garage Sunday. Janesville Fire Department crews were called to the garage in the 4100 block of North River Road just after 11 a.m. The structure was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the home, but the soffit and a part of the attic above the garage were damaged.

No one hurt in fire at Rice Lake business

No one is hurt after a Saturday morning fire at a Rice Lake business. The Rice Lake Fire Department said that crews were called to a fire at the American Excelsior Company plant on Pioneer Avenue at 8:05 a.m. Saturday, according to a release. The fire was in a silo at the plant, which manufactures packaging materials, including wood fibers.

West Side lab evacuated after chemical container leaked hazardous substance, Madison authorities say

A West Side lab was evacuated Tuesday morning after a chemical container leaked a hazardous substance, the Madison Fire Department reported. The evacuation of Mirus Bio, 5602 Research Park Blvd., began after the container holding a chemical known to be toxic and flammable became compromised, causing a leak and chemical vapors reportedly to waft through the hallways and to another floor via the building’s ventilation system, Fire Department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said in a statement.

Multiple units from Janesville Fire Department respond to fire at landfill

The Janesville Fire Department had multiple units on scene Wednesday afternoon at the City of Janesville Landfill for a garbage fire. In a Facebook post, the Janesville Police Department stated they are not sure of what caused the fire. The fire is located on the northwest corner of the property. The smoke can be seen from miles away, according to police.

Fire causes extensive damage at downtown Eau Claire residence

A Wednesday night fire caused an estimated $150,000 damage to a downtown residence, firefighters say. According to the Eau Claire Fire Department: The fire was reported at 11:26 p.m. at 706 Hobart St. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire on both floors of the two-story residential structure.

Western Technical College receives nearly $195K for youth firefighter training

Wisconsin's Technical College System is helping out Western Technical College in a major way. The system presented WTC with a check for $194,792 on Wednesday afternoon. School officials said the funds will go toward Western's Youth Firefighter Training Program. It provides dual credits for high school students working to obtain their firefighter certification.

Oshkosh assistant fire chief to retire after more than 3 decades of service

After 32 years with the Oshkosh Fire Department, Assistant Chief John Ziemer is set to retire Friday. Emergency crews respond to large house fire in McFarland

Dane County Sheriff Kalvin Barrett says a home and two cars in the Town of Dunn are total losses after a fire. Dane County Sheriff's Office PIO Elise Schaffer said the two homeowners were inside when they smelled smoke coming from the attached garage. They evacuated without injury. Barrett credited first responders' quick actions with preventing more damage.

Child pulled from Lake Michigan near Kenosha's Pennoyer Park

Area fire department assists at Outagamie County fire

A fire in Outagamie County over the weekend may have had the largest response to a fire in Wisconsin history. Officials say a fire at a paper warehouse in the village of Combined Locks saw 700 responders from 67 fire departments. The Pittsville Fire Department was asked to send a strike team to haul water, so they drove nearly two hours to assist throughout the night.

Madison Fire Department: Broken fan allows CO levels to rise in Madison apartment building garage

A broken exhaust fan is blamed for carbon monoxide building up inside the underground garage of a Madison apartment building. Fire chief: Combined Locks fire response may be largest in Wisconsin history

La Crosse city committee okays budget increases on new fire station project

A couple of changes to the new city fire station being built near the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Milwaukee first responders' timely response gave a local man another chance at life

Time is of the essence when it comes to life or death situations, and fortunately for Dale Wilbourn, first responders' timely response gave him another chance at life. A simple hug and a thank you is something he doesn't take for granted anymore. "I'm glad I'm here to even witness this," he said. Fire in Peshtigo kills two dogs, under investigation

Officials are saying that a residential fire in Peshtigo is under investigation, but not considered suspicious. According to the Peshtigo Fire Department, on July 10 around 3 p.m. crews were sent to a residence on Woodridge Drive for a reported garage fire. When officials arrived, heavy smoke and fire was reportedly spreading to the residence and attic.

Occupants safe after Janesville residential fire

Two occupants, two dogs and a cat are safe after a residential fire started at a Janesville duplex on Sunday, the Janesville fire department said. Janesville Fire responded to a residential duplex fire after being told one person wasn’t out of the house. Heavy fire roared for the garage door and roof as officials arrived.
