Hartford EMT Ben Hoffmann is American Legion EMT of the Year

PHOTO: The Wisconsin American Legion awarded Hartford EMT Ben Hoffman the state's EMT of the Year award last Thursday, acknowledging his exemplary service to his community and his cause. This award is given to individuals who show extraordinary initiative in both the field and in their community. After receiving the local award, Hoffmann went on to receive both the regional and state-level awards.

Family and pets rescued from Greenfield apartment fire, 15 left homeless

VIDEO: A family who narrowly escaped their burning apartment is thanking the Greenfield Fire Department for their lives and for the lives of their beloved pets at the apartment building near 61st and Cold Spring. The structure's still intact, but the inside's totally devastated. We spoke with a father and daughter whom firefighters helped climb out a second-floor window and down a ladder.

Utility pole fire in downtown Green Bay spreads to car, tree

VIDEO: Smoke billowed in downtown Green Bay Tuesday afternoon as an electric pole burned next to an office building. The fire happened at about 1:30 near the Brown County courthouse. A tree next to the pole also caught fire and flames spread to a vehicle parked there. Firefighters say people inside the building were forced to leave.

Home explosion in Sheboygan, one woman injured

VIDEO: A woman was injured after a home exploded in Sheboygan Tuesday night, according to the Sheboygan Fire Department. Around 8:30 p.m., the fire department was called to a home near 12th and Ontario to assist the Sheboygan Police Department, who had been called to the home for a report of a person having a mental health crisis.

Apartment building damaged in Green Bay after vehicle crashes into it

VIDEO: A vehicle crashed into an apartment building on Green Bay’s west side on Monday afternoon. According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, just after noon on Monday, firefighters were sent to the 1400 block of Western Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. When crews arrived, firefighters found an SUV inside a first-floor apartment.

Two deadly aircraft crashes in Winnebago County: Four dead, two hurt

VIDEO: The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating two separate aircraft crashes that happened Saturday in Winnebago County. The first aircraft crash happened around 9 a.m. The Winnebago Sheriff’s office received multiple calls about an airplane that crashed into Lake Winnebago. According to the sheriff’s office, two people died as a result of that crash.

Firefighters battle Fond du Lac apartment building fire; 16 people impacted

Fond du Lac firefighters battled a fire at an apartment building on Spring Street on Sunday, July 30. Officials tell FOX6 News the initial call for the fire cam in around 10 a.m. Sunday. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. One man who was in the building at the time of the fire jumped from a second story window to escape.

Fox Crossing Fire Department sets up giant slip ‘n slide

VIDEO: Kids had no problem beating the heat Thursday in Fox Crossing thanks to some help from the local fire department. Firefighters used their hoses to fill “mud pits” and on a tarp creating a giant slip ‘n slide in O’Hauser Park during the hottest part of the day. Fox Crossing Parks & Recreation and the Fox Crossing Fire Association also handed out free popsicles.

More NARCAN for Wisconsin first responders

Over 30,000 additional NARCAN doses have been distributed to law enforcement across Wisconsin; all in the name of saving lives. Appleton House Fire Causes Over $100,000 in Damages

More than $100,000 worth of damage was caused by a house fire in Appleton. Crews were called to a two-story home in the 1400 block of North Appleton Street around 9 a.m. Thursday for a report of smoke coming from the roof. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke coming from multiple roof vents. Neighbors reported that the residents were not home.

Interstate 43 northbound in Green Bay reopens following vehicle fire

PHOTO: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is reporting a vehicle fire on Interstate 43 in Brown County. According to WisDOT, the vehicle fire on I-43 northbound at East Mason Street in the City of Green Bay and happened around 6:15 p.m. As a result, all lanes were closed while the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department deal with the active fire.

Flames cut through roof of Beloit home

VIDEO: An early morning fire tore through the attic and second floor of a Beloit home on Wednesday, according to the city’s fire department. Basement fire in Fond du Lac causes 'extensive damage,' displaces family of 6

A family of six is now without a home after a fire Tuesday night in Fond du Lac causes what officials say was “extensive damage.” In a release from the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, firefighters responded around 9:00 p.m. to reports of the smell of smoke on the first floor of a home at 605 County Road K.

Much of the United States is facing a heat wave that is set to bring temperatures into the 90s in southern Wisconsin. 'Misuse of burning materials' starts fire in Manitowoc County

Residents of a home in Manitowoc County safely evacuated their home Tuesday morning after a fire started in the basement. In a release from the Kiel Fire Department, firefighters responded at 3:04 a.m. to a reported structure fire on 928 4th Street in the city of Kiel. Authorities say that crews arrived on scene in six minutes and the residents of the home had already safely evacuated after being awakened by the smoke detectors.

Eau Claire firefighters practice special rescue scuba diving

VIDEO: Firefighters of the Township Fire Department in Eau Claire, practice special rescue techniques a few times a year. Monona police and fire departments collaborate in active threat training

VIDEO: The Monona Police and Fire Departments are taking part in active threat training this weekend at Winnequah School. The training is meant to better prepare first responders for real-world situations by bringing the two forces together. The training is provided by a company called Silverback. They train first responders all across the country.

Stevens Point Fire Chief awarded by Plover Village

The Fire Chief of the Stevens Point Fire Division was awarded for his efforts during a recent 911 cardiac arrest call. The call came from the Menards in Plover where it was reported that someone was suffering from heart complications. Ewing lives in Plover and heard the call. Even though it was his day off, he knew he had to do something.

Follow-up: No cause found in May condo explosion in Madison, potential sources found

VIDEO: Ten weeks after an explosion rocked a Madison condominium unit, investigators from local, state, and federal agencies still have not determined the exact cause of the blast. In an update on Thursday, the Madison Fire Department explained they concluded the May 9 explosion originated in the garage of the townhome, which is in the 900 block of Gammon Road.

Fire crews battle fire at apartment building on Milwaukee's north side

VIDEO: Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire Thursday evening at an apartment building on the city's north side. The fire started at about 5:20 p.m. at North Sherman Boulevard and West Florist Avenue. Milwaukee Fire Department Deputy Chief Travis Jones said when firefighters arrived, they saw the three-level building with flames coming from the second floor.
