Merrill Fire Chief Honored After 80 Years of Waiting

VIDEO: Fire Chief Adlord Talbot died back in 1941, but never received the honor and recognition he should have, until today. Bells tolled in Merrill Tuesday morning, and members of the fire department showed up in full dress uniform to honor one of their own: Fire Chief Adlord Talbot. Wausau police and fire departments give back during Community Thank You Cookout

PHOTOS: Wausau police officers and firefighters busted out the grills to give away free lunches as a way of saying 'thank you'. The two departments partnered up for the city's 8th annual Community Thank You Cookout' on the 400 block Tuesday in downtown Wausau. Wausau's patrol captain says events like these give staff of both departments a chance to connect with the community and show them who they are behind those badges and helmets.

Milwaukee Fire Department create 'flex farms' to address community need

Milwaukee firefighters have found another way to help the community, using their green thumbs to grow fresh food year round. It's part of a pilot program called "Gardens for First Responders," but fire crews aren't the only ones getting their hands in the soil. One taken to hospital after apartment fire in Whitewater

VIDEO: An apartment fire in Whitewater sent one person to the hospital. The fire, at 137 W Center St., began around 2:20 p.m. Saturday. It began on the roof of the building and was contained there, Whitewater Fire Department explained. A witness said he was walking his dog when the fire broke out. “Next thing you know, it’s truck after truck after truck, ambulance safety team and response team, EMS, all that left and right, and I mean just filled the surrounding blocks,” Matthew Richardson said.

Fond du Lac Restaurant Damaged By Fire

A local Fond du Lac restaurant sustained damage in a fire Friday, August 11, 2023. About 6:25 PM, the Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department was dispatched to Boda’s Restaurant at 277 south Pioneer Road for a report of smoke alarms going off and smoke in the basement. Upon arrival fire crews encountered light smoke and found there had been a fire located in the mechanical room in the basement.

Onalaska names new fire chief

Onalaska has a new fire chief. The city announced that Peter Fletty is the new head of it's fire department. Chief Fletty is currently the the head of the Marshfield Fire Department. He's spent his career with Marshfield where he began as a firefighter/paramedic and moving up through Lieutenant, Deputy Chief, and finally Chief.

Chief of Neenah and Menasha Fire Rescue announces retirement

The Chief of Neenah and Menasha Fire Rescue Kevin Kloehn announced his plan to retire after nearly thirty-two years of service, according to a written statement issued by Amy J. Green Bay Fire Department Gears up for Electric Vehicle Emergencies with New Tools, Thanks to AAA Grant

Sheboygan house fire puts 7 people out of their home

Seven people need to find another place to stay after a fire caused about $100,000 damage to their home early Thursday morning. Sheboygan firefighters were called for a chimney fire on the 2500-block of Leon Court shortly before 12:30. What they found were heavy flames coming from the back of the home, and people were still inside the house.

Eau Claire fire and rescue teams practice emergency scenarios at Chippewa Valley Technical College

Five Eau Claire fire and rescue firefighter-paramedics rushed into the electrical hot lab at Chippewa Valley Technical College to find a man with burn marks on their hands lying on the ground, unresponsive. Milwaukee County installs 11 free Narcan, Fentanyl test strips vending machines

Park Ridge to consider approving sale of fire vehicles

Trustees in Park Ridge this week will consider approving the sale of its three fire vehicles to the top bidders following a sealed-bid submission process. Village President Steve Menzel oversaw the opening of the bids on the morning of Aug. 8. The village was accepting bids for its two engines, a 1993 International and a 1980 Chevrolet respectively; and its squad, a 1974 International.

Eau Claire firefighter wins gold in bench press competition

Green Bay firefighters union gets $10K after specialized coffee and shirt sales

VIDEO: Fire Department Coffee is a veteran-owned business run by firefighters based in Rockford, Ill. Last month, Fire Department Coffee teamed up with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department to create a specialized coffee and t-shirt called, 'Leather & Cheeseheads.' On Monday, the fire department's labor union — Green Bay Area Firefighters Local 141 — was presented with a $10,000 check with the proceeds that it earned from coffee and t-shirt sales.

La Crosse fire leaves firefighter with injury

The La Crosse Fire Department said one firefighter was injured at the scene of a garage fire Monday morning. Battalion Chief Blane Neher said that they were called to 1313 South Avenue just after 2 a.m. They found a detached garage and camper were fully engulfed when they arrived. Their efforts kept the fire from spreading to the adjacent home which did suffer some damage from the heat of the fire.

One driver seriously burned in Ozaukee County fair demolition derby fire

PHOTO: A Wisconsin demolition derby driver was hospitalized with severe burns after his car caught fire in the pit of the Ozaukee County Fair Demo Derby, according to officials. The incident happened Friday night in the city of Cedarburg. The 22-year-old man was among the participants in the Demo Derby, Cedarburg Police said, according to WISN.

Charity golf outing in Sussex raises money for firefighters battling mental health issues

Milwaukee house fire extinguished; 2 homes damaged

Firefighters on Friday morning, Aug. 4 responded to the scene of a house fire near 36th Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue in Milwaukee. The fire spread to a neighboring home. FOX6 News talked to Dawill Davis. He was able to get his girlfriend and five children out of the home safely. "We were watching tv and my girl saw it first, a spark, and I just saw a little light and flew up in flames," said Davis.

4 people displaced after fire in downtown Madison

An electrical fire at a downtown apartment early Thursday left four people without a place to live, said an official with the Madison Fire Department (MFD). Firefighters were called to a 2-flat apartment at 200 South Bedford Street at about 12:50 a.m. Someone in the home said flames and smoke could be seen coming from the bathroom.

Firefighter paramedics go through simulation training at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire

Thursday, fire and rescue first responders participated in a training simulation at Chippewa Valley Technical College to work on a special case they don’t see everyday. Rescue workers trained on a patient, a simulation mannequin, that had fallen from 20 feet high and was electrocuted which, according to Deputy Chief Jon Schultz, is a rare occurrence.
