The Merrill Fire Department has announced that we are recipients of a 2023 Rewarding Responder Grant offered through the Wisconsin Public Service Foundation.
The $2,000 grant will be used to purchase an Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, for one of the department’s command vehicles. Fond du Lac County is making use of new, clever technology to get first responders to the right location.
The technology, called “what3words,” converts numeric GPS coordinates into words. The words are then decoded by first responders using the what3words app in the field.
