Garbage truck bursts into flames in Brown County, crews cleaning up 11k pounds of recycled material

PHOTOS: Cleanup is underway after a garbage truck caught fire because of a mechanical issue in Brown County on Tuesday. According to the Suamico Fire Department, the incident happened shortly after 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Siesta Lane and Overlook Court in Suamico.The driver of the garbage truck had noticed smoke and flames coming from the truck and safely exited the vehicle.

Coping with trauma; Milwaukee firefighter now retired helps others

VIDEO: For 23 years, Lt. Brent Jones has grown accustomed to using his voice as a firefighter in Milwaukee and on honor guards across the country. He’s now using his voice to speak up on secondary trauma he’s experienced on and off the job, after almost silencing his own voice. American Tribute Ride to travel through Waushara County July 22

On Saturday, July 22nd, a very unique experience will be happening in Waushara County. According to the American Tribute Ride (ATR) Committee a convoy of approximately 200 motorcycles and other vehicles will leave at 11 a.m. the Wisconsin Fire & EMS Memorial, making their way to Rudolph Fire Station for a lunch stop.

Walworth County: Summer camp for burned youth in Wisconsin gives survivors a place to connect, heal

VIDEO: Young burn survivors have a safe place to connect with each other and heal, both physically and emotionally. The Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation hosts the annual summer camp for burn injured youth every year at Camp Timber-less, just outside of East Troy. The free, week-long camp is fully back in person and helps campers navigate life beyond their injuries.

Deadly Beltline crash, tattoo fire likely linked, Madison police say

VIDEO:Investigators believe the deadly crash on the Beltline Tuesday and a nearby fire that is being investigated as an arson are related, the Madison Police Dept. reported, adding Madison Fire Dept. has reached the same conclusion. According to an MPD update, a 71-year-old motorcycle rider died when he crashed into another vehicle while driving the wrong way on the Beltline, near the Seminole Hwy.

Accused woman admits to setting fatal Milwaukee fire

None injured in fire at Madison business, MPD investigating possible connection to fatal Beltline crash

Nobody was injured in a fire at a business on Madison's southwest side Tuesday morning, Fire Department officials said. Crews were called to the 4200 block of West Beltline Highway, located just off of the Beltline near Seminole Highway, at around 6:30 a.m. Dane County dispatchers said flames and smoke could be seen from outside the building.

Wisconsin sees second-highest call volume increase to 988 lifeline year after launch

VIDEO/PHOTOS: It's officially been one year since the 988 lifeline was launched in Wisconsin. 988 replaced the 10-digit National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Since the launch, the number of Wisconsinites using the hotline increased significantly. Wisconsin has seen the second-highest increase in call volume nationwide since the launch of the new number, according to Wisconsin Department of Health Services Crisis Service Coordinator Caroline Crehan Neumann.

Car hits home, gas meter in La Crosse causing a fire

No one is reported to be hurt after a car hit a home and a gas meter in La Crosse, causing a fire. According to information from the La Crosse Fire Department, on July 17, 2023, around 12:50 p.m. the La Crosse Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a home and hitting the gas meter on the south side of the city.

Madison firefighters save Pomeranian stuck in a sofa

A little Pomeranian is back home and enjoying all the love his family can give him after a big fright on Saturday night. The tiny dog named Bear crawled under the couch that evening right as a motorized footrest was activated and began closing, the Madison Fire Dept. explained. The whirring motors started winding the fluffy pup’s fur and reeling him toward the hinges and gears.

Small bathroom fan fire escalates to building evacuation in Fond du Lac

Fond du Lac firefighters are reminding the public to call 911 if they have a fire in their home no matter how small after an apartment building fire. Firefighters say around 2 a.m. Monday, they received a call on a non-emergency phone line to look at a bathroom exhaust fan in an apartment at 234 S. National Avenue.

La Crosse Fire Department shows off new $7.3 million station to public

Milwaukee firefighter takes a fall while fighting house fire

VIDEO: A firefighter took a fall but is going to be OK during a response to a house fire near 29th and Scott in Milwaukee Thursday morning. Body found while crews investigate Cottage Grove house fire

VIDEO/PHOTOS: : A spokesperson from the Dane County Sheriff's Office told 27 News one person has died and a fire investigation is underway in a Cottage Grove. The death was separate from the fire. The fire started around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday at a home at 4663 Baxter Road. Lt. Jason Kudrna with the Cottage Grove Fire Department confirmed Wednesday evening the house is a total loss.

Winnebago County firefighters use wildfire training to combat Waushara County Pallet Fire

Firefighters respond to fatal house fire in Milwaukee

One person was found dead at the scene of a fire near 29th and Bobolink Tuesday night, July 11. It happened around 9 p.m. Fire officials said firefighters found heavy fire on the second floor of the two-story home. When they were searching the second floor, they found a 60-year-old Milwaukee man dead.
