Brussels-Union-Gardner’s North Station Expects To Be Finished Labor Day Weekend

Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department’s North Station should be fully operational by Labor Day weekend. The addition at the station in Gardner will include two truck bays, fire hose drying area, and areas for lockers, equipment storage, and maintenance. BUG Fire Chief Curt Vandertie says his crews are excited to have a little more elbow room when they report for work.

Firefighter trapped while battling blaze at Merrill sports bar

VIDEO: No injuries were reported after the roof of a Merrill bar collapsed during a fire, trapping a firefighter inside, according to the Merrill Fire Department. Merrill Fire Department said the first dispatch call in regards to a structure fire at Victory Lane Sports Bar came in at 8:28 a.m. on Saturday.

Woman, 3 children injured after crash into Madison laundromat

A woman and three children suffered minor injuries after their SUV crashed into a laundromat, according to a release from the Madison Fire Department. Firefighters were called at 8:06 a.m. to a laundromat in the 4600 block of Verona Road on a report of an SUV that crashed through the storefront. The SUV was inside the laundromat when firefighters arrived, the release said.

Search for missing boater in Chippewa River to continue Monday

VIDEO: The search for a man whose boat capsized on the Chippewa River has been called off for the night. Rescue crews from multiple agencies in the area are searching for a man whose boat capsized on the Chippewa River. According to the Chippewa Falls Fire Department a call came in around 1:40 Sunday afternoon for a capsized boat near the Wissota Hydro Dam.

Fire crews called to car fire on I-94 in Jefferson County

VIDEO: A vehicle is completely destroyed after catching fire on I-94 in Farmington. It happened around 7 p.m. Saturday on I-94 eastbound near mile marker 268. Firefighters found the SUV fully engulfed in flames when they arrived to the scene. Two people inside the vehicle managed to escape unharmed.

Balcony fire in Kenosha condo building displaces some residents

Fire broke out on the balcony of a third-floor condominium in HarborPark Saturday afternoon, causing the evacuation of the building and displacing several residents overnight. The Kenosha Fire Department was alerted to the fire at 420 57th St. at about 5:25 p.m. The fire appeared to have started on the balcony of a third-floor, corner-unit condominium.

Fire causes evacuation of restaurant on Madison's West Side

Guests and staff evacuated a restaurant on Madison's West Side Thursday night after a fire started on the kitchen's stove top, the Madison Fire Department said. The fire at the Denny's, 433 South Gammon Road, started around 6 p.m., Fire Department spokeswoman Cynthia Schuster said in a statement, and the firefighters arrived to see black smoke coming from the rooftop exhaust.

Oak Creek and Milwaukee County partner with Kwik Trip for help

In case of emergency, the city and Milwaukee County Emergency Management will have a new partner: Kwik Trip. The city is entering into a memorandum of understanding with Milwaukee County Emergency Management and Kwik Trip for the latter to supply assistance, if needed, during certain emergencies. Oak Creek Fire Chief Tom Rosandich said the city was asked to come forward as a model for the county knowing Oak Creek has multiple Kwik Trip locations locally.

Fire departments work together to respond to calls on I-39/90 in Madison

VIDEO: Cars flew down Interstate 39/90 without a problem Thursday afternoon, but fire departments along the highway are concerned about getting to the scene of a crash when traffic backs up in the construction zone. More than three-dozen 20-year-old mattresses replaced at Wausau firehouse

Madison man taken to hospital after cooking fire

A man was taken to a hospital Wednesday after a cooking fire in his apartment, according to a release from the Madison Fire Department. Firefighters were called at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday to an apartment in the 1100 block of High Point Road on a report of a fire. Fire officials said the man began heating olive oil to make dinner when he stepped out of the kitchen for a minute or two.

Fountain City transfers property for new fire station

The Fountain City Community Fire Association cleared apparent final hurdles in taking ownership of property where it eventually intends to build a new fire station. The city council approved transferring deed to surveyed property lines that include an acre of land and bathhouse facility located off State Highway 35 where a community swimming pool used to sit on the city’s south side.

Janesville Fire Department responds to house fire on Old Kennedy Road

Janesville firefighters put out a house fire on Old Kennedy Road in Milton on Wednesday afternoon. A man who said he lives in the house at 4446 Old Kennedy Road said he and four dogs got out and away from the fire safely. Barbara Lein, who also lives in the home, said she returned with her daughter and saw the fire.

Kraig Biefeld selected as interim Watertown chief

La Crosse Fire Department creates training scenario downtown

The need for full time firefighters is high at the La Crosse Fire Department after a year of heavy turnover. The loss of several members of the department has left voids in certain shifts and the department is looking to recruits to step up and fill those holes. "Before we assign them to a shift and get them on some sort of 24 hour shift, we want to make sure they have the basic understanding of all the things they can run into on the street on a day to day basis," Division Chief Frank Devine, said.

4-year-old boy drowns in Browns Lake in Racine County

A 4-year-old Racine boy drowned on Monday afternoon in Browns Lake, Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling confirmed. The child went missing at about 5:10 p.m. according to emergency radio transmissions, and was located at about 5:40 p.m. The child was rushed by Burlington Rescue crews to Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, dispatch reports indicated.

Evacuated residents return home after gas leak in Madison

Homeowners who were evacuated after a gas leak in the 4300 block of Crawford Drive in Madison were allowed back into their homes about five hours after the leak was detected.
