Follow Up: Buffalo County fire kills father, 2-year-old girl

Buffalo County authorities continue to investigate the cause of a fire Tuesday morning that killed a father and his 2-year-old daughter at their Buffalo City home and do not suspect foul play, Sheriff Mike Schmidt-knecht said. Douglas Shawley, 30, and Genevieve Shawley, 2, were killed in the fire, according to sheriff’s office officials.

Portage panel plans for fire chief, other leaders succession

Portage Fire Chief Clayton Simonson has been at the helm of the Portage Fire Department for 13 years, and hasn’t indicated any readiness to retire. But when the time comes for Simonson to hang up his turnout gear — temporarily or permanently — there’s a plan in place to pinpoint his successor. State can no longer enforce apartment building sprinkler rule

2 dead after mobile home fire in Buffalo County

Two people were killed in an early morning fire in Buffalo County. It happened around 5 a.m. in Buffalo City on Circle Drive. According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department, the fire was on the back half of a mobile home. Shortly after arriving, deputies say there was a small explosion that they believe was a small propane tank located near the home.

13-year-old boy discovers fire in Woodruff home, helped alert authorities and saved pets

A Woodruff family now finds themselves without a home for the holidays after a fire late Tuesday afternoon caused severe damage. No criminal charges for volunteer firefighter who drove into bar in West Bend

A Washington County volunteer firefighter won’t face any criminal charges after crashing his truck into a bar. Early morning fire damages Wausau duplex

Residents got out safely Tuesday morning when a fire broke out in their home, according to police. A caller reported a fire in a duplex in the 500 block of Chicago Avenue 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. Follow Up: Fire at Stolley's Hogg Alley in Oconomowoc caused by cigarette

A fire at Stolley's Hogg Alley, 2008 N. Venice Beach Road, Summit, was likely due to a cigarette. First units for Western Lakes Fire District arrived at the restaurant at 12:09 a.m. Dec. 8 for a fire that began near the front door. Crews respond to barn fire in Jefferson County overnight

Kenosha: Five injured in head-on collision

Five people were injured in a two-vehicle, head-on collision in the 7900 block of Sheridan Road Sunday night. Thursday night rollover crash in Madison sends one to hospital, fire department says

A rollover crash on Thursday on the North Side left one person in a hospital, the Madison Fire Department said. Town of Burlington fire chief steps down

Milwaukee Fire Dept. mourns passing of Kristin Ciganek, firefighter who battled cancer

Ciganek had learned she had a four inch by four inch mass on her ovary. A few weeks later, she was told she had stage 4 colon cancer. Ciganek started a new, aggressive chemotherapy regimen at Froedtert Hospital, which worked well at the time.
