Ultra high-pressure firefighting returns to Racine County

Two fire departments in western Racine County are the first in the county to embrace a re-emerging firefighting technology — ultra high-pressure — into their operations. On March 12, the Rochester Fire Company took possession of an ultra-high-pressure pump and retrofitted its 2010 grass fire unit to carry it.

Area fire departments respond to house fire outside of Juneau

No one was injured in a house fire on Highway W near Juneau on Sunday afternoon that was battled by multiple area fire departments. Juneau Fire Chief Curt Ninmann said his department was called at 5 p.m. for a report of a house fire at W6477 Highway W, in the town of Oak Grove. "Reports from Dodge County Dispatch were confirmed that there were flames showing and heavy smoke from the house," Ninmann said.

2 killed in motorcycle-car crash in southern Brown County

Two people were killed Sunday afternoon when a motorcycle passed a stop sign and slammed, broadside, into a car in southern Brown County. Brown County sheriff's officials said the westbound motorcycle, operated by a 38-year-old Green Bay-area man, passed a stop sign at Dickinson and Park roads. It struck a southbound car driven by a 60-year-old man from Mount Pleasant, in southeastern Wisconsin.

Improperly discarded fireworks to blame for downtown Madison fire

The Madison Fire Department said improperly discarded fireworks caused a fire that happened at a residence on the 500 block of West Washington Avenue Saturday morning. Firefighters received a fire call at the residence at 4:06 a.m. The fire started on the first floor of the building. Crews had extinguished the fire by 4:18 a.

New equipment coming to South Shore Fire Department

New life-saving equipment is coming to the South Shore Fire Department. The Fire Department is planning to purchase 10 new defibrillators, including heart monitors and six AutoPulse units, which are automated CPR devices. South Shore Fire Chief Rob Stedman made presentations to the villages of Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant about the need for these devices.

Firefighter injured responding to Oregon car fire

VIDEO: An Oregon firefighter injured his wrist after responding to calls of a car fire Thursday night. The Oregon Fire Department responded to a call shortly after 9:00 p.m. about a car fire that spread to a residence. Dane County Communications upgraded it to a full structure fire after reports indicated that the garage started to catch fire.

System change will impact Appleton emergency dispatchers

A change in dispatching systems is forcing Appleton firefighters and Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue to tweak how they’re called to emergencies in each other’s communities. The departments have had an automatic aid deal in place for seven years sending the closest engine to a fire or medical call regardless of city borders.

Police, fire crews rescue pet macaw from tree in Green Bay

A Green Bay man is thankful after police and fire crews came to the rescue of his pet. Wednesday afternoon, the man's macaw escaped from his home and flew to the top of a tree. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department brought in their ladder truck and allowed the bird owner to go up with one of the firefighters.

Officials: 5-year-old girl hurt in Milwaukee house fire may have been playing with lighter

A tragic turn to a family’s Fourth of July celebrations when a north side Milwaukee home catches fire. “I just heard them holler fire and we all came outside,” a neighbor who lives near Sheridan and 41st Street, where the fire started, said. Garbage can full of discarded fireworks catches fire, damages fence, Madison officials say

A fence was damaged Wednesday night after a garbage can full of discarded fireworks caught fire on Madison’s south side, officials said. Unattended cooking cause of July 4th Fond du Lac house fire

VIDEO: Unattended cooking was determined to be the cause of a house fire Wednesday in Fond du Lac. Just before 6 p.m., Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue responded to the 700 block of Ellis Street for reports of smoke in a house, with no current fire, as well as a kitchen stove left on, according to a press release from Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue.

La Crescent: Train collision sends two to the hospital

VIDEO: Around 12:00pm, La Crescent Police and Fire responded to reports of an Amtrak passenger train crashing into a pick-up truck on Shore Acres Road between La Crescent and La Crosse. Police and fire responded along with Gundersen Tri-State and CP Rail. Two were inside the truck at the time of the collision.

Fire displaces Hansen family Wednesday evening

A couple and their four children were assisted by the American Red Cross Wednesday after a fire did extensive damage to their home, according to the Vesper fire chief. A caller reported a fire at 55 block of Grant Road, Hansen, at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday, Vesper Fire Chief Dennis Dederich said in a news release.

Officer, young girl among three hospitalized after Milwaukee house fire

VIDEO: A police officer and a 5-year-old girl were among three people hospitalized and several others treated on the scene after an Independence Day fire on the city's north side. Fired up: That's how members of the Eau Claire Fire Department feel about their new station

Man drowns trying to save daughter at Pennoyer Park in Kenosha

VIDEO: A Kenosha man who saved his daughter from a rip current in Lake Michigan has died. Police say the 28-year-old never recovered after he started struggling during the rescue. It is the second drowning to happen at Pennoyer Park this summer. The other happened on Memorial Day. Rescue crews say it's because of the strong rip current created by the Pike River which took the man's daughter far out into Lake Michigan.

One taken to hospital after fire at Milwaukee business

Fire officials say employees evacuated the building before crews got to the scene. One person was transported to the hospital for an injury. There is no other information available on the fire or damage at this time. Fire crews were called to a fire near 33rd and Villard in Milwaukee Tuesday morning.

Update: Norway fire crews still at Johns Disposal blaze Monday night

Fire officials as of Monday night did not have a cause of a massive fire at Johns Disposal Service and were expected to remain at the scene until 10 p.m., more than 24 hours after the call originally came in. The fire, the largest in Racine County since February 2013, started at about noon Sunday, engulfing the 1-ton bales of recyclable materials stored at the facility, 7311 Omega Circle.

Crews battle Fitchburg house fire

Crews are on the scene of a structure fire in Fitchburg on Tuesday afternoon. Dane County Dispatch said firefighters are responding to a house fire in the 5800 block of Tree Line Drive. The fire is in the back of the home. The call came in at 11:15 a.m. There are no reports of injuries.

Two Rivers garage fire causes $120K in damages, no one hurt

A garage fire at 2619 Ninth St. in Two Rivers Friday evening caused an estimated $120,000 in damages, Two Rivers Fire Department said in a press release. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 6 p.m. Friday and when they arrived, found a fully involved detached garage fire near the rear of the property.
