Green Bay Metro firefighters send inspiration to Alabama girl battling cancer

Humbled and amazed. That's how a family in Alabama feels after receiving an outpouring of support from all over the world for their daughter as she fights cancer. And now she's about to get a little love from Northeast Wisconsin. Firefighters here are donating a massive collection of patches to help the once-stranger they now consider family.

Wausau woman, recovering from injuries in apartment fire

The sound of a fire alarm found its way into her dreams. Krista Betz still wasn't sure she was fully awake from her nap when she walked to her apartment window and heard someone yelling for her to jump. Smoke billowed into her room. She worried about her cat. Betz decided to make the leap from her second-floor window, toward a man who tried to catch her, but instead her head and body smashed into the pavement of the parking lot.

Town of Bristol family loses home in overnight fire

A Town of Bristol family is looking for a place to stay after a fire destroyed their home late Sunday night. Madison College holds first all-women firefighter training

Madison College hosted its first-ever firefighter training session geared exclusively for women Saturday. Twenty-five women attended the all-day training, which is designed to give women a preview of what they might expect from a firefighting career, along with physical conditioning tips and networking opportunities.

Milwaukee Fire Department responds to basement fire

VIDEO: The Milwaukee Fire Department responded to a fire in the basement of an apartment building early Monday morning. Crews were called to the area near 97th and Michele around 2 a.m. The fire was quickly put out and everyone got out of the building safely, according to fire officials. One firefighters was hurt, but was not transported to the hospital.

$100,000 in damage done to Sheboygan house after deck fire

Saturday evening around 5:40 p.m. Sheboygan Fire Department was sent to a house on Moenning Road for a fire on a deck. When firefighters arrived the entire back of the house was on fire spreading through the exterior walls and into the attic. Firefighters attacked the fires from outside and inside a bedroom.

On 1st day of summer, Milwaukee Fire Department kicks off ‘Warm Up Winter’ campaign to buy coats for kids

River conditions could be unsafe for FATFAR in Chippewa Falls

Appleton Fire Department names Jeremy Hansen new chief

The city on Wednesday announced that Jeremy Hansen, the director of the public safety training center at Fox Valley Technical College, has been selected as the incoming fire chief. Chief Len Vander Wyst retired in March after nine years with the Appleton Fire Department. Before he joined the Appleton Fire Department, Vander Wyst served as the chief of Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue.

Portage boy's body recovered from Silver Lake

The body of a 13-year-old boy, missing since late Sunday, was found in Silver Lake on Wednesday afternoon after three days of search efforts. Portage police identified Shayn Wolffarth of Portage as the boy who was last seen on a flotation device on the lake late Sunday afternoon, before falling into the water and disappearing below.

No injuries, confined damage reported in apartment building fire, Janesville Fire crews say

No injuries were reported in a fire that damaged a condo-style apartment building Wednesday evening, according to the Janesville Fire Department. In a release, the department said crews responded around 6:20 p.m. to the 1400 block of Canyon Drive for a report of a fire in a garage attached to an apartment building.

Fire damages Town of Sun Prairie barn

A barn fire in the Town of Sun Prairie June 20 resulted in $15,000 in damage to the barn and contents, according to Sun Prairie Fire Chief Chris Garrison. The chief said at 6:21 p.m. the Sun Prairie Fire Department responded to a report of a large barn on fire in the 4900 block of Town Hall Drive in the Town of Sun Prairie.

Milwaukee Fire Department saves trapped person in early morning house fire

The Milwaukee Fire Department saved a trapped person during a house fire early Thursday morning. According to the department, crews were called to the home near 70th and Euclid around 3:34 a.m. When they got to the scene, they learned a person was trapped in a first floor bedroom. The person was removed from the room with minor injuries and did not need to be taken to a hospital.

Milestone Moment: New Glarus Fire Department breaks ground on facility extension

Firefighters respond to second fire at Cudahy home, investigation underway

Fallen firefighter Richard Garner, Jr. honored by City of Madison

VIDEO: On Tuesday night, the City of Madison honored a firefighter who died in the line of duty. Richard Garner, Jr., 29, collapsed on April 1 within 24 hours of his final shift. Madison's City Council approved a resolution to rename Fire Engine No.10 in his honor. Fire Chief Steven Davis says Garner was special to him since Garner was part of the first class he hired as chief.

Woodruff Fire Department takes step toward purchasing ladder truck

VIDEO: The Woodruff Fire Department took a step towards getting a new kind of fire truck to its station. For years, the department has considered investing in a ladder truck to better serve the community. Recently the town board has given the department to go-ahead to start looking. A demonstration was held Tuesday night so that the department could see the difference between a 75 ft.

Racine County: Semi-trailer fire on I-94 destroys six vehicles

PHOTO: A fire that engulfed six vehicles on an auto carrier completely shut down Interstate 94 Tuesday afternoon while authorities worked to put the fire out and clean up the wreckage. At 2:17 p.m., the Racine County Sheriff’s Office responded to I-94 near Kraut Road after multiple callers reported the fire, according to a press release.
