Beloit families in need of help after apartment fire

For Brandon Grady-Johnson, it still doesn't feel real. On Friday night, Grady-Johnson and his family were forced out of their Beloit apartment after a fire overran the building. "It feels like we can just go inside the house, but we can't. We're starting from scratch. It really hurts,” he said. Grady-Johnson's first instinct was to protect his family.

Surveillance camera from business captures natural gas explosion in Sun Prairie

VIDEO: We have a new perspective on the natural gas explosion that rattled Sun Prairie on July 10. The blast was caught on nearby surveillance video. Authorities say a construction crew struck a gas main in downtown Sun Prairie on July 10, resulting in the explosion. Fire Captain Cory Barr was killed as he helped evacuate people prior to the blast.

$15K donation used to buy Sun Prairie Fire Department new gas-detection device

Caledonia: Driver cited in St. Monica's crash

The driver who crashed into St. Monica's Senior Living Wednesday evening has also received multiple citations, according to Caledonia Police Lt. Gary Larsen. On Thursday, Larsen said that the driver, a 20-year-old male Caledonia resident who police did not name, was kept overnight for observation after being transported to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa via Flight for Life.

Madison firefighters hose down smoldering clothes from dryer, officials say

Firefighters found smoldering clothes in a dryer Tuesday night when responding to a fire call on Madison’s east side, according to a release. Crews were called around 9:45 p.m. to the 500 block of North Star Drive after a dryer caught fire, officials said. The resident used a fire extinguisher on the fire before crews got there, but they weren’t sure if the fire was entirely out, according to the release.

Milwaukee police officer killed in shooting; suspect wanted on drug and gun offenses

VIDEO: Milwaukee police officer was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with a suspect wanted on drug and gun offenses, Police Chief Alfonso Morales said Wednesday. 2 cows rescued from underground manure pit in Waunakee

Crews worked to rescue cows from a manure pit in Waunakee, fire officials said Tuesday. The Waunakee Fire Department said two cows became stranded in an underground pit in the 7000 block of Hyer Road shortly before 7 p.m. Fire crew workers wore a breathing apparatus and had to go into the pit, which was several feet deep, to rig up the cows to be lifted using a loader.

3 displaced after cooking fire in Green Bay

A late night grease fire left three people without a home Monday. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department says says an adult and two children were at their home on 12th avenue in Green Bay when the fire started. Officials say the fire started in the kitchen. When they arrived on scene firefighters put out the fire, but it had already extended into cabinets and the ceiling.

Rib Mountain fire leaves garage charred, occupants safe

VIDEO: A fire started around 8:00 p.m. Monday at a home on Blackberry Court. Three people were inside when the fire started and all got out safely. Firefighters were able to put the flames out quickly, containing it to the garage. Officials have a preliminary idea of what caused the blaze. Officials Respond to Fully Engulfed House Fire in Oneida

Milwaukee Fire Dept.: Retired firefighter pronounced dead at scene of crash; off-duty officer was driving

Four-year-old hit by semi-truck in Denmark

VIDEO: Officials in Brown County are investigating an accident involving a semi-tractor and a 4-year-old boy that happened in the Village of Denmark. The boy and other children were getting candy during the annual Lion's Parade on County Highway KB. Sun Prairie firefighter Ryan Welch recovering, thankful for community support

A community backing their firefighter, with a benefit for Ryan Welch -- the firefighter who was hurt in the explosion in Sun Prairie. A group of girls who had never met him came up with the idea of a fundraiser for Welch's family, which was held Friday night at Callahan's Sports Pub in Madison. The girls said they just wanted to help the Welches in their time of need.

La Crosse firefighters dedicate new engine to fallen colleague

La Crosse firefighter Jake Lincoln holds up his son Wrigley, 3, so he can wash the new Engine 4 at the La Crosse Fire Department’s Fire Station No. 4 during its wetdown ceremony. The engine is dedicated to La Crosse firefighter Donald Asselin, whose death at in 1997 at the age of 46 of renal cell carcinoma, a rare form of cancer that tends to strike firefighters, ultimately helped spur the development of state and national standards to help shield firefighters' from exposure to harmful chemicals produced by fires.
