One found dead in fiery crash in Chippewa County's Lake Hallie

One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Tuesday morning in Chippewa County. According to a release from the Lake Hallie Police Department, a 911 call was received reporting that a single vehicle crashed and was on fire near the intersection of 25th Avenue and County Highway P. After the Chippewa Fire District extinguished the fire, the driver's body was discovered inside the vehicle.

Removed load-bearing wall causes partial building collapse in Madison

An apartment building partially collapsed on Madison's west side Monday afternoon, a fire official said. Madison Fire Department spokeswoman Cynthia Schuster said that during the deconstruction process for a remodeling project in the basement of the building located at 1202 McKenna Blvd, a load-bearing wall was removed, which caused a partial structure collapse.

Firefighter injured, 7 displaced after apartment fire in Waunakee, chief says

A firefighter was injured and seven residents were displaced after an apartment fire in Waunakee, said Waunakee Fire Chief Dave Kopp. Crews responded to reports of black smoke in the 400 block of O'Malley Street at 7:25 p.m. Monday. Firefighters had the fire put out within the first couple of minutes.

Semi hauling 20+ tons of meat catches fire in Outagamie County

PHOTOS: Firefighters battled a semi tractor trailer fire on Monday, April 8 that temporarily shut down the northbound lanes of I-41 near Highway 15. The trailer contained 41,000 pounds of meat. Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation -- and there is no dollar loss amount yet. The driver of the truck was able to get out of the vehicle prior to Grand Chute firefighters arriving on the scene.

Waupun Raising Money to Bring Traveling 9/11 Memorial to City

The City Waupun is a place very different from New York City. However, this small city in eastern Wisconsin wants to bring a bit of New York history to town this summer as a way of honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11. Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa is working to bring the 9/11 Never Forget mobile exhibit to town during the city’s Celebrate Waupun festival in June.

Madison firefighters respond to report of fire at east side deli

Madison firefighters responded to fire at an east side deli Sunday night. Around 8:30 p.m., crews responded to Stalzy's Deli on the 2700 block of Atwood Avenue. Dane County Communications told News 3 Now there was a report of smoke coming from the ceiling. According to Madison fire chief Steve Daivs, the first was mostly contained to the kitchen.

South Shore Fire’s ‘Technical Rescue Team’ provides support at Dairyland arson, condo crash within hours

A relatively new team within the South Shore Fire Department has proven to be quite busy. The "Technical Rescue Team" was called out twice on Tuesday, April 2, helping to keep two very different structures from collapsing. Members of the team are specially trained to keep buildings with structural issues from falling, and their biggest challenge yet came Tuesday night at the former Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha.

Marshfield Fire Department to implement new recruitment program

The Marshfield Fire Department is looking to get creative when it comes to filling their staff. Janesville home fully engulfed in flames, considered total loss

A Janesville home on Henke Road caught on fire Thursday night around 8:58 p.m., a fire department release said. When the Janesville Fire Department unit arrived at the scene, firefighters found heavy fire conditions on the first-floor interior and the north exterior wall extending to the second-floor exterior and attic.

East Madison restaurant's kitchen damaged in early morning fire, officials say

An east Madison restaurant sustained significant damage in an early morning fire Friday, officials said. Two injured, 12 displaced in Monroe apartment building fire

Two people sustained minor injuries and 12 people were displaced Thursday afternoon in an apartment building fire in Monroe that caused heavy damage to one apartment and smoke damage to the other apartments. Brown County police, fire, and EMS train to respond to integrated threats

Brown County law enforcement and first responders are training so they're all on the same page in a potentially dangerous situation like an active shooter, fire, or explosion. Thursday, they trained at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, working through different scenarios that may occur. Five transported to the hospital following school bus crash in town of Beloit

Four Beloit Turner School District students are transported to the hospital following a school bus crash Thursday morning. The Town of Beloit Fire Department says first responders were dispatched to the single-vehicle crash in the parking lot of the police station shortly before 7:00 a.m. Fire Chief Gene Wright says the bus left the the roadway, went across a lane of traffic, hit a tree and a fire hydrant and came to rest in the parking lot of the police station.

Careless use of smoking materials sparks fire in Fond du Lac

A porch fire in Fond du Lac was started by careless use of smoking materials. The fire happened around 3:22 p.m. on Wednesday. Officials suspect arson in Kenosha dog track fire

Milwaukee house fire injures resident and firefighter, closes Humboldt Avenue

A house fire on the east side closed North Humboldt Avenue for about an hour Tuesday night, authorities said. Crews responded about 9:30 p.m. to a house at Humboldt and East Land Place (near Water Street) for a fire, Milwaukee Fire Acting Deputy Chief Russell Rivard said. Fire causes significant damage to the upper unit of a Wauwatosa duplex

A Wauwatosa duplex fire didn't result in any injuries, but one of the units suffered significant damage Monday morning. Crews were met with moderate fire and smoke on the second floor of a 2½-story duplex, 2151 N. 60th St. The upper unit suffered significant fire and smoke damage, while the lower unit suffered moderate smoke and water damage.
