Firefighters battle structure fire in Barneveld

12 fire crews respond to a structure fire in the village of Barneveld in Iowa County Tuesday evening. The fire closed County Highway ID in Barneveld, authorities tell NBC15. Menomonee Falls Fire Department already dealing with equipment issues now facing staffing shortages

For two days last week, Menomonee Falls had almost no equipment to fight a fire. There were no fire engines Tuesday, and by Wednesday night, only part of a ladder truck was working. But Assistant Chief James Mollet said that is not even the worst part. “The fact we are up here talking tonight because of vehicles being broken or out of service, to me, that’s the bright side,” said Mollet.

Monday night bluff rescue puts La Crosse emergency crews' training to the test

A man is recovering after falling an estimated 40 feet from Grandad Bluff on Monday night. Members of the La Crosse Fire Department were able to rescue him. Months of training and planning go into bluff rescues. The steep and uneven terrain make things difficult for emergency crews, but their experience helps save lives.

Officials: Second rescued Ironman athlete, a Madison firefighter, dies at hospital

The second man who was rescued from the water Sunday during the Ironman race in Madison has died, city fire officials said. The Madison Fire Department said in a news release Tuesday that Todd Mahoney was rescued from Lake Monona at 8:52 a.m. Sunday. Lifesaving attempts continued as he was transported to SSM Health St.

New program helps Eau Claire emergency responders with stress management

Emergency crews and law enforcement never know what they will see on any given work day. From fires, to crashes, to water rescues; the ones who keep us safe deal with many types of tragedy. The "Peer Support Team" is a new program started in Eau Claire within the last year that focuses on the mental health of emergency personnel and law enforcement.

Update: Official cause of De Pere fire is "Undetermined"

De Pere Fire Chief Alan Matzke has released a statement to Local 5 News, confirming that the investigation into the fire that destroyed a historic building on De Pere's east side has concluded, with the cause of the fire being listed as "Undetermined." Milwaukee Police Department seeks help to ID suspect setting fire to wheelchair ramp

The Milwaukee Police Department asked for help identifying a man wanted for the arson of a wheelchair ramp near Mill Road and Brentwood Avenue on Monday, June 10. Officials said the crime happened around 12:30 a.m. Police described the man as follows: Unknown age, unknown race, standing 5’10” tall, weighing about 150 pounds — last seen wearing dark clothing.

Garage fire in Pleasant Springs causes thousands of dollars in damage

A homeowner in the town of Pleasant Springs is facing thousands of dollars in repairs after a garage fire Sunday evening. The Dane County Sheriff said just before 5:30 p.m., they responded to a fire in a garage on the 2800 block of Door Creek Road. While crews put out the fire, Door Creek Road between County Highway MN and Koshkonong Road was closed to traffic.

Cross Plains home deemed 'total loss' after fire

A home in the Village of Cross Plains is considered a total loss after a fire early Sunday morning. At approximately, 2:10AM several agencies responded to a structure fire at the 3100 block of Hillside Trail. Green Bay man dead after tractor caught fire, rolled into power lines in Luxemburg

A 54-year-old Green Bay man died after the tractor he was driving caught fire Saturday morning. First responders were called around 12:55 a.m. Saturday to Tonet Road, north of County Road K, in Luxemburg for a report of a tractor on fire that had rolled into the power lines, according to the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department.

Despite having five fire stations, Menomonee Falls only has one working fire engine. Menomonee Falls Firefighter Union says no engines were in service at one point Wednesday

VIDEO: The president of the firefighter’s union in Menomonee Falls says for part of the day Wednesday, there were no working fire engines or ladders. Eagle River firefighter with 61 years of service passes away

A long-time Eagle River volunteer firefighter has passed away. Jack Thomas worked with the department for 61 years. In a Facebook post, the Eagle River Fire Department thanked him for his service. He was also an integral part of building ice castles each winter. Thomas was a fire chief for 18 years of that service.

Dump truck driver pinned in vehicle after apparent brake failure at Franklin quarry

he Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to the Payne and Dolan quarry along Rawson Ave. in Franklin on Wednesday morning, June 5. Fire officials tell FOX6 News a 36-year-old dump truck driver from Milwaukee was at the quarry to dump a load of sand. The driver apparently had some sort of brake failure when he was going down into the quarry.
