A firefighter from the Shawano Area Fire Department rescued a dog that had fallen through the ice Friday afternoon.
The rescue happened about 1 p.m. in the Shawano Channel in the 400 block of West First Street, Fire Chief Shawn Borlace said. The channel connects the Wolf River to Shawano Lake.

It happened around 10:00 p.m. when the fire department was called to the home on South Mill Street. Firefighters found the kitchen of the home in flames.

A house on the East Hill of Chippewa Falls sustained damage Monday after a power line reportedly fell on an electrical box, causing a fire.
