The wife of a volunteer firefighter killed in an explosion in downtown Sun Prairie is being sued for $138,000 due to the money owed on the local bar they owned together, according to lawsuit documents. Capt. Cory Barr was a firefighter, local business owner and father. He was killed in an explosion in downtown Sun Prairie last summer.

One person was found dead inside a Marquette County home after crews put out a fire Saturday, officials said. The man accused of burning down a Wausau laundromat and flower shop last week was charged with arson Friday afternoon in Marathon County court. According to court documents Azeez Hakeem, 31, of Wausau, admitted to officers at the scene that he started the fire that destroyed Rainbow Laundry and Blossoms and Bows during the early morning hours of April 9.

Barr is credited with evacuating more than 100 people from a downtown Sun Prairie building in July 2018 after it exploded from a natural gas leak.
