Racine police say one man was taken to the burn center with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries. A second man was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. An off-duty Milwaukee firefighter was shot at a home near North 105th Street and West Cameron Avenue around 5:35 p.m. Monday.
The 35-year-old firefighter was shot in the thigh, and is expected to be okay. Police have not confirmed what led to the shooting.

A family was able to evacuate their Bangor home Saturday morning after they were alerted by a smoke detector to a fire.

Fire destroyed a home on County Highway Z, just east of Aniwa in Shawano County.
Birnamwood Fire Chief Randy Berger told NewsChannel 7 the fire started around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. He said there were no injuries but an unknown number of pets may have died in the fire.
