Racine Police officer, firefighters report helping man found unconscious during fire regain pulse

Racine firefighters found an unconscious man when they responded to a call that smoke was coming from a home Wednesday morning on the 1700 block of Franklin Street. The neighbor making the call indicated that an adult male was at the stairs and possibly deceased. Racine Fire Department Engine 6 arrived at 9:07 a.

Ambulances idle because of 'dire' Port Washington EMT shortage

For nine hours on Monday, the Port Washington ambulance service didn’t have enough emergency medical technicians to staff its ambulance, Fire Chief Mark Mitchell told the Police and Fire Commission Monday. The calls that came in to the department instead had to be handled by the Grafton ambulance crew, Mitchell said.

Town of Winchester Fire Department looks to the community to help buy equipment

A Winnebago County fire department wants to add to its fleet of vehicles. The Town of Winchester is hoping to purchase a UTV or utility terrain vehicle to better serve its community. Two dozen volunteer firefighters and EMS make up the Town of Winchester Fire Department. The deputy chief tells Action 2 News the department is looking to grow both in manpower and in machinery.

$5K reward offered by ATF to find suspects involved in Milwaukee arson

It's been 11 months since a building on Martin Luther King and Wright Street was heavily damaged by an arson fire. There's now a reward of up to $5,000 for information about two suspects. The building housed a Metro PCS store and a hair salon. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Milwaukee Field Office and the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Police Department released video showing the suspects they're looking for.

Fire engulfs Thiensville's the cheel restaurant

When few others had an interest in restoring the historic Victorian building at the corner of Main Street and Buntrock Avenue in Thiensville, Barka and Jesse Daily stepped forward with a vision and a fierce work ethic. Superior Fire Department Combatting COVID With Enhanced Procedures

Since the start of the pandemic, the Superior Fire Department has tallied three firefighters testing positive for COVID-19 and none have experienced significant health issues as a result. Chief Scott Gordon says those cases were contained and not spread to other members of the department. “We now know we cannot keep COVID-19 out of our department now we come at it from a different way how can we keep COVID-19 from shutting down our department,” says Gordon.

One person killed in Janesville fire

One person is dead after a house fire in Janesville overnight. The Janesville Fire Department says they were called to 1062 South Pearl Street in Janesville just after midnight Monday morning. Once they got there, firefighters reported a heavy fire with the person who lives there being unaccounted for.

Man points gun at two Milwaukee firefighters

A man pulled a gun on two Milwaukee firefighters near 50th and Fiebrantz around 9:10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. Milwaukee police say the two firefighters were seated in their fire engine waiting on traffic to pass when a man pulled beside them, pointed a gun at them, then immediately drove away. There are no current suspects.

Appleton firefighters rescue kayaker from Fox River

Firefighters rescued a kayaker stranded in the Fox River Friday afternoon. First responders were called around noon Friday to the Fox River for a report that a kayaker had become separated from his boat and was hanging on to a buoy in the river near the Memorial Drive bridge, according to a news release from the Appleton Fire Department.

Iron Ridge EMS receives lifesaving tool

A new lifesaving device is being put into action in Iron Ridge thanks to the generosity of a local company. Iron Ridge Fire Chief Jason Boeck said that first responders will begin training on the LUCAS 3 chest compression system next week. The device was donated by the Hanni family, owners of PS Seasoning, in memory of Ken Hanni who died last fall.

One dead in Beloit apartment fire

One person is dead following an apartment fire in Beloit early Friday morning. According to the Beloit Fire Dept., firefighters responded shortly before 3 a.m. to the home, in the 300 block of West Grand Ave. As crews arrived, they could see heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor. Warned that someone may still be inside the apartment, they started searching and found the victim’s body, the fire dept.

Officials investigate boat fire on Madison's east side

The Madison Fire Department is looking into the cause of a boat fire on the city’s east side Thursday morning. An incident report said dispatchers received several reports of a fire in the parking lot on the 1800 block of East Washington Avenue shortly before 5 a.m. A crew responded and found a fully involved cabin cruiser boat.

Several hurt in Green Bay duplex fire

Several people suffered burns in a fire at a duplex on Green Bay’s northwest side. At about 1:37 a.m., Green Bay Metro Fire was called to 1330 N. Locust for a report of smoke and flames coming from a bedroom on the left side of the multi-family building. “The fire was put out pretty quickly. It did not extend into the attic or anywhere else into the complex,” says Battalion Chief David Kolz.

Geneva: Voters deliver split decision on funding fire department expansion

Two communities said "yes" but a third voted "no" in a series of referendums to fund expansion of a fire department serving this part of Walworth County. Voters in the town of Geneva rejected the proposal, while others in the town of Sugar Creek and city of Elkhorn agreed to fund a $1.6 million-a-year expansion of the Elkhorn Fire Department.

Grand Chute voters approves fire department staffing referendum

The voters have spoken in Grand Chute and they overwhelmingly approved the addition of nine more firefighter/paramedics for the town’s fire department. The staffing referendum passed with nearly 70% approval. Grand Chute has grown dramatically in the past decade with the addition of residences and business, in the town, leading to an increase in calls for public safety like the fire department.

Voters in rural Walworth County approve shared ambulance deal

A deal to share ambulance service among six neighboring rural communities has won voter approval in referendums held Tuesday in multiple towns and villages. The plan to jointly contract a private ambulance company to share two new full-time firefighters was approved by voters in the towns and villages of Walworth and Sharon and the village of Darien.
