Vienna home considered total loss after fire causes $200,000 in damages

A Town of Vienna home is considered a total loss Wednesday after a fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damages. Dane County Sheriff’s Office deputies and fire crews from multiple departments arrived at the home on the 5700 block of Oak Lane for a fire, according to a news release. Deputies say nine employees of a nearby farm were occupants of the home, but no one was injured.

Four displaced after Madison apartment fire

Four people were displaced Tuesday morning following a fire at a Madison apartment complex. A resident called the Madison Fire Department around 4:30 a.m. about a fire in the 1500 block of Troy Drive apartment. According to an incident report, all occupants were able to evacuate from the building without injuries, despite thick smoke.

Rhinelander firefighter saves deer from frozen northern Wisconsin lake

The Rhinelander Fire Department started Tuesday with an unusual patient: a trapped deer. After receiving a call in the morning that a deer had fallen through the ice on Boom Lake in Oneida County, on the portion of ice that branches out toward the Wisconsin River, Scott Rathbun Jr. geared up to rescue the trapped animal.

Kewaunee Fire Department gets new tools to help fight wildfires this spring

Wildfires can happen any time of the year, but with warmer temperatures, low humidity and windy days, Spring is the most critical fire season in wisconsin, according to the DNR. The Kewaunee Fire Department has made some upgrades that might seem small, but will a huge difference as spring wildfire season approaches, said Greg Hlinak, Fire Chief.

Rural Osseo man found dead in burned car

A 67-year-old man from rural Osseo was found dead Monday morning in a car that burned in rural Eau Claire County. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the man, who was found by firefighters and sheriff's deputies responding to a vehicle fire off Highway NN in the town of Otter Creek. Investigation revealed the driver likely suffered a medical emergency, which caused him to drive off the road and into the ditch, according to the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office.

Nine area fire departments participate in grain bin rescue training at a Town of Dover farm

Fire destroys garage, damages home in Plover on Golden Road

Fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home early Monday morning in Portage County. Fire crews responded around 12:15 a.m. to a home on Golden Road in the village of Plover, according to the Plover Fire Department. Fire Chief Mark Deaver said an attached garage was on fire, and it spread to the kitchen and upstairs of the home.

Fire causes $15K in damage to Racine home, no one injured

The Racine Fire Department on Sunday, March 14 responded to the scene of a house fire on Green Street near Goold Street. The call came in around 9 p.m. When crews arrived on the scene they located a fire in a second-floor bedroom. The fire was brought under control within 18 minutes of the initial 911 call and did not spread beyond the room of origin.

Ozaukee County fire departments answer more calls with fewer people

Nine fire and EMS departments in Ozaukee County are answering more calls with fewer people, according to a new report from the Wisconsin Policy Forum, which says the system needs repair -- and soon. If not for a strong working relationship, the situation could be even worse. Departments like Grafton have mutual aid agreements in place.

Green Bay hospital facing $100,000 worth of damages after Saturday night fire

A local hospital in Green Bay is facing an estimated $100,000 worth of damages after a fire ignited in the building’s electrical service room on Saturday night. According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, just before 8 p.m., crews responded to an alarm activation alert at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center located on 1726 Shawano Avenue, in Green Bay.

Beloit Fire Department provides vaccines to eligible homebound individuals

As COVID-19 vaccinations continue in the Stateline Area, the Beloit Fire Department has stepped up to host mobile vaccination events for homebound individuals in partnership with community organizations working in the Beloit area. The City of Beloit received around 84 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) as part of an effort to increase immunizations in the community.

Emergency Naloxone Boxes Being Installed Across Wisconsin to Help Save Lives

Chief Joseph Adamson of the Horicon Police Department has responded to many overdose calls in his career. He now carries Narcan with him everywhere. “You never know when you’re going to run into an opportunity to help save a life,” Adamson said. He was excited to help install one of the first public opioid rescue kits in Wisconsin inside the lobby of his station.

Firefighters respond to partial building collapse, gas leak in Grand Chute

Firefighters responded to a partial building collapse and gas leak at a spa store in Grand Chute Thursday morning. At about 11:26 a.m., the Grand Chute Fire Department was called to Master Spas, 2138 W. Wisconsin Avenue. As a result of the collapse, a gas meter was damaged and leaking. The meter was covered by debris from the collapse and was “blowing gas.

Ripon firefighters respond to Alliance Laundry Systems following reports of smoke, flames

The Ripon Area Fire District responded to a fire at the Alliance Laundry Systems facility near Vermont Street and Lyon Street tonight (Wednesday). Weather puts chill on ambulance fundraiser plans in Dallas Area; We may try something during Prairie Farm Dairy Days

Wisconsin Dells community helps retired firefighter’s family after destructive house fire

The Wisconsin Dells community is helping a retired firefighter and his family rebuild after a fire destroyed their home March 5. At least two online fundraisers and two drop-off donation sites have been set up in Wisconsin Dells and Baraboo to help Chris and Stephanie Lawton recover after a fire destroyed their home at 911 Fawn Court.

A Weekly Escape: Storytime with a Green Bay Firefighter

For a few minutes on a Wednesday afternoon Lt. Shauna Walesh was all about “Interstellar Cinderella.” Holding the book up, she read into a cellphone mounted on a tripod, broadcasting the story live to Facebook. The reading is part of a weekly program, Storytime (CQ) with a Firefighter. It started as a way to provide fire education during Fire Prevention Week last fall when many kids were at home.
