North Carolina firefighter will run for a full day to advocate for cancer screenings

VIDEO: Mikey Riley has been with the Asheville Fire Department for just over 15 years. Just within the past few years of his time there, Riley said he's been personally impacted by the loss of active and retired firefighters due to occupational cancer. The Asheville Fire Department has lost four active members in the last four to five years due to occupational cancer, according to Riley, which he plans to use as motivation on Saturday, April 22.

VIDEO: Firefighters battle fire at closed tavern in Oregon

PHOTOS: Firefighters were called to fight a fire at an abandoned tavern in North Portland on Wednesday night. The call came in at about 7:30 p.m. The fire was at The Barn Tavern at 7421 North Denver Ave. According to Portland firefighters, the building was on their “unsafe building list” and there have been eight fires at the location in the last 12 months.

City council reacts to Georgia firefighter’s plea for help after off-duty injury

An Atlanta city council member is fighting to protect first responders who get hurt while choosing to respond to emergencies while off-duty. New information is emerging about a train derailment in Somerset County that sent flames and smoke above Moosehead Lake Saturday morning. Remembering the West Fertilizer Company explosion in Texas, 10 years later

VIDEO: Massive fire destroys barn in Illinois; no injuries reported

A massive fire destroyed a barn in far west suburban Sugar Grove Thursday. Firefighters from Elburn and Countryside assisted in containing the fire in the barn at 3-S-598 Bliss Rd. The fire was in a rural area with no fire hydrants, requiring tanks of water to be shuttled in. The barn was destroyed in the fire.
