VIDEO: Chicago house destroyed in large fire

An extremely aggressive fire broke out Tuesday afternoon on Chicago's South Side. The Bronzeville building fire has since been put out, though firefighters have continued to pour water on it and are keeping an eye on hot spots. The Chicago Fire Department got the call around 3:40 p.m., and by then, the fire was on all floors of the three-story home in the 4500 block of South Michigan Avenue.

State program in Maine wants to address volunteer firefighter shortage by funding retirement

Two Maine firefighter organizations hope to enroll volunteers from the state’s more than 400 departments in a new retirement program by the end of this year. Three quarters of the state’s fire departments are run by volunteer fire chiefs, who along with other volunteers, are not eligible for retirement benefits because they do not work as full-time firefighters, according to the Maine Fire Chiefs Association.

Firefighters in Ohio call out drivers for cursing crash response

The Brewster Fire Department has a message for the motorists who “screamed at, cursed at and flipped the bird” at firefighters while they were working the scene of a car crash last week. On Wednesday, June 7, crews shut down a road near the intersection of state Route 241 and U.S. Route 30 and rerouted traffic after a minivan struck a motorcycle, seriously injuring one person.

After losing his left leg,Texas firefighter gets chance on NBC’s ‘American Ninja Warrior’

Naval shipyard paramedic in Maine has stroke at 37; Here's what saved him

When Greg Rhinehart, a 37-year-old firefighter/paramedic at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, woke up at 5:30 the morning of Jan. 7, he found he couldn't speak. Not a word. Chemical Safety Board Releases New Video Of 2018 Refinery Explosion, Fire In Wisconsin

State Legislatures Continue to Enact Disaster Policies in 2023

As the 2023 hurricane season officially begins, state legislatures have so far kept pace with related legislative activity of prior years. Industrial building fire in Washington destroys 7 businesses

Arsonist who targeted Texas Governor's mansion still at large 15 years later

PHOTOS: A shadowy figure pitched a Molotov cocktail onto the veranda of the Texas Governor's Mansion 15 years ago, then vanished into the night-cloaked oaks. Wisconsin county's cardiac arrest save percentage double the national average

VIDEO: Dane County EMS is reporting double the national average success rate when returning a person who suffered cardiac arrest to quality of life. “We respond to just over 400 sudden cardiac arrests in a given year.
