Popular TikTok creator films firefighters in Colorado, garners millions of views

VIDEO: Firefighters picked up an unexpected tagalong while training in Colorado Springs recently. Kara Lewis, videographer and TikTok content creator with over a million followers on the platform, approached Colorado Springs firefighters and asked if she could film them as they trained. That’s something Lewis is known for.

Florida firefighter hit in head with ax while caring for patient, deputies say

A firefighter with the Osceola County Fire Rescue is in the hospital after being struck in the head with an ax while caring for a patient, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said. Personnel from Station 62 were dispatched to a home in Kissimmee Wednesday after receiving a call of a woman having trouble breathing, according to a news release.

VIDEO: Maryland home evacuated after fire

A Prince George's County home was evacuated Thursday morning after a fire during the early morning hours. The fire was reported around 5:45 a.m. in the 12000 block of Aspenwood Lane in the Laurel area. Officials say the fire has extended through roof of the home and that the house has been evacuated.

Smokey Bear hot air balloon will fly high at Michigan state fair

PHOTO: Kids look up to Smokey Bear and his important fire-prevention messaging. Now they’ll also get the chance to look up – way up – at Smokey’s familiar face and trademark hat Aug. 19-21 during the U.P. State Fair in Escanaba. The New Mexico-based hot air balloon made in Smokey Bear’s image will ascend on a tether several times near the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Pocket Park during the fair.

Fire museum in New York now open

PHOTOS: The original Bellport Fire House was built in 1893 on South Country Road. In 1937, it was moved to the rear lot facing Woodruff Street to make way for the new updated building. By 1975, when it was time to expand, the building was either to be demolished or moved. Luckily, for the history buffs, the fire department was able to have it moved to a leveled lot in the historic district of the village on Bell Street, the former site of a historical barn, which had been moved to the Bellport Brookhaven Historical Society property just across the way.

Wisconsin fire destroys warehouse, injures firefighters, drains water tower

VIDEO: A large warehouse fire in Fort Atkinson Tuesday displaced about 50 residents and injured some of the 150 firefighters called to the scene. The fire was reported around noon in the 700 block of Oak Street on the city's north side, police said. There was no one in the building at the time. Fire Chief Daryl Rausch said at a press conference Tuesday evening that some firefighters suffered injuries due to the heat and were treated at the scene or taken to a local hospital.

Rhode Island first in the nation to deploy new disaster response tech

Illinois moves toward phaseout of firefighting foam with harmful ‘forever chemicals’

'It basically saved my life': Exams catch dangerous issues early in Ohio firefighters

When he went to his physical exam in October, Lt. Greg Galehouse felt like he was in pretty good health. The Akron firefighter had an active lifestyle and no sign that anything was wrong. VIDEO: Citing Safety Issues, City in New York Relocates Fire Station

Pointing to long-running structural and health concerns, Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard announced on Friday that the Oak Street Firehouse will be temporarily relocated. New Mexico's Alternative Response Unit gives city new type of first responder

On a recent afternoon, Antoine Mosley was panhandling on Cerrillos Road when the city’s Alternative Response Unit arrived. The unit includes a caseworker, a paramedic and a police officer who respond to low-threat 911 calls usually related to behavioral health issues. The unit members are trained in de-escalation techniques and often connect people in crisis with mental health and housing services.
