VIDEO: Georgia firefighters rescue man who fell two-stories into air vent

Atlanta firefighters had to perform a vertical rescue after a grate gave way and let a man fall down an air shaft, officials said. It happened around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at One Coca-Cola Plaza. Atlanta fire Rescue said the person had fallen about 15 to 20 feet into the air shaft from above. Firefighters determined the best way to rescue the man was to pull him up back through the now open-air vent.

Generational firefighters often anchor local stations in Pennsylvania

Firefighting is in the blood of the Fanella family, stretching back four generations in Mount Carmel Township. Robert B. Fanella died at age 88 in 2014. The highly transmissible Omicron variant is now dominant in the United States, according to new data released by the CDC on Monday. The variant now makes up more than 73% of new infections, a nearly six-fold increase compared to the week before. Massachusetts firefighters battle 8 alarm fire, use drones to direct water as smoke obscures building from view

South Dakota drug problem continues up and up, Fire Department responds with a hazmat training

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is, yet again, reporting an increase in drug related crime throughout the county. Although drug arrests fell slightly last year, the Sheriff’s Office says things are once again on the rise. They say a huge part of the problem is the addiction and repeat offenders of those who abuse methamphetamine, making up 70-percent of arrests in 2019.

NTSB Report: Failure to properly disconnect, secure car batteries led to 2020 ship fire that injured 9 Florida firefighters

A National Transportation Safety Board report released Thursday says a failure to properly disconnect and secure vehicle batteries led to the 2020 fire aboard vehicle carrier Höegh Xiamen in Blount Island. The June 4th fire resulted in $40 million worth of damages and sent nine Jacksonville firefighters to the hospital.

3 dead after Missouri fire truck collides with SUV, crashes into building

VIDEO: Three people were killed late Wednesday night after a fire truck collided with an SUV and crashed into a building in Westport. A Kansas City Fire Department truck was heading northbound on Broadway Boulevard near Westport Road on the way to a house fire shortly after 10 p.m. The fire truck then collided with a Honda CRV that was traveling westbound on Westport Road.

Program in Florida giving new life to fire helmets; strength to those in need
