Fire still burns at 95: Firefighter is oldest-serving member in South Carolina

Hobart “Hobie” Erickson put in 30 years at a fire department in New Jersey and rose to the level of captain. Then, he and his wife, Lois, retired to the Lakelands. End of story, right? Absolutely not. Erickson kept riding by the Donalds Fire Department, and Lois encouraged him to volunteer. That eventually fueled his internal flame to return to doing what he always loved.

3D cameras create virtual walkthroughs of North Carolina fire scenes

VIDEO: The Asheville Fire Department (AFD) has a new tool to help with investigations. Through FEMA’s Fire Safety and Prevention grant, AFD received a Matterport 3D imaging camera. “It allows us to essentially paint a picture of the entire incident,” Bill States, senior deputy fire marshal, said. The technology lets AFD go inside a fire scene long after the initial investigation has ended.

Interfering with first responders in Washington state would become crime under bill

Interfering with a fire or medical first responder could soon become illegal if a bill being considered in the Washington State Legislature passes this session. A proposed House bill would create a gross misdemeanor for anyone who knowingly interferes with the actions of a firefighter or emergency medical services provider.

Virginia fire department turns to telehealth to free up ambulances

Cancer Screenings Offered At Firehouses In Florida City As Part Of National Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month

Metro city in Georgia offering housing allowance to encourage officers, firefighters to live there
