Jay Leno interview: 'Boom ... my face caught on fire'

Jay Leno, the guru of the garage, did not mince words describing the accident that put him into intensive care. “And suddenly, boom, I got a face full of gas," Leno said. "And then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire.” In a televised interview on NBC’s "Today" show, the comic looked only a little worse for wear, and he’s now back on stage doing standup after nine days at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.

Connecticut: Sandy Hook 10 Years Later - First responder’s wife came face-to-face with shooter

It has been 10 years since 20 students and six educators were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. Rob Sibley is a Deputy Chief in the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Department and is also the deputy director for Emergency Management in the village of 9,000 people. Subaru Recalls Ascent for Potential Fire Risk

Subaru’s latest recall affects nearly every one of its family-hauling Ascent SUV. The issue stems from the electrical system and could lead to a fire. Included in the population are model-year 2019-22 Ascents. The ground bolt that secures the ground terminal of the positive temperature coefficient heater in the wiring under the dashboard may have been improperly fastened, which could result in melting of the ground terminal and surrounding components, increasing the risk of a fire.

VIDEO: Multi-alarm fire at New Jersey commercial building burns through the night

Firefighters spent hours in freezing temperatures battling a fire at a commercial building in Linden. The blaze broke out around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and eventually went to three alarms. VIDEO: Four-Alarm fire rips through vacant California strip mall

Firefighters extinguished a Four-Alarm fire at a strip mall in Long Beach Sunday morning. According to Long Beach Fire Department, crews were dispatched at around 3:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire at a strip mall. Homecoming held for historic Rhode Island fire truck

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A homecoming for a historic East Greenwich city service ladder truck was held on Saturday. The Ahrens-Fox fire truck made it's way back to the city, and its been nearly 65 years since it was last in service. The truck was used from 1931 to 1958. When it went out of service, it was sold to the South Meriden Volunteer Fire Department in Connecticut for use in ceremonies and parades.

In 1907, Santa Claus was briefly blamed for devastating Illinois fire

Santa Claus was briefly blamed for a Dec. 21, 1907, fire that destroyed the eastern half of the 600 block of East Adams Street. The final damage estimate, over $137,000, made the fire the most expensive in Springfield history up to that time. The blaze started in the Johnston-Hatcher store on the southwest corner of Seventh and Adams streets.

The Ohio Senate voted down legislation Wednesday that would lengthen the minimum required prison sentence of anyone convicted of killing a firefighter or EMS worker while driving, setting up a possible negotiation session to hammer out differences in the bill with the Ohio House. The decision comes weeks after a Cleveland firefighter was killed in a recent hit-and-run by an allegedly drunk driver.

A century ago, much of the city on the Oregon Coast went up in flames

In the early morning hours of Dec. 8, 1922, fire tore through Oregon’s oldest city. Astoria’s fire likely began near 11th Street and quickly spread through the downtown business district. Despite a drizzle of rain and light snow, the blaze jumped from building to building. Within an hour of the first alarm, an entire block turned to ash.
