County in Pennsylvania approves full tax rebate for volunteer first responders

Fire and EMS departments nationwide are struggling to find volunteers, including in York County. “It’s more of a crisis than people realize it is," said Chad Deardorff, president of the York County Fire Chiefs and Firefighters Association. That’s why the county is taking big steps in an effort to help.

News anchor writes children’s books as tribute to deceased Florida firefighter

As Brittany Jones and her fiancé Mike Freeland drove down a road in Jacksonville on Aug 16, 2019, they spotted a car on fire. As a seasoned newsperson, Jones was familiar with pulling over to cover spot news, but this situation was different. She was not working. While her Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department firefighter fiancé also was off duty, there was no way he was going to pass a motorist in great distress and not help.

Fourth coldest game in NFL history sees 69 people aided by Missouri fire department, ‘close to 50%’ for hypothermia symptoms

Emergency services in Kansas City rendered aid to 69 people, many for “hypothermia symptoms,” during the Chiefs’ Super Wild Card playoff win over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, a fire department chief told CNN. Conditions at Arrowhead Stadium during the Chiefs’ 26-7 win were tough for players and coaches to deal with, as well as fans: the temperature at kickoff was -4 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of -20 degrees, making it the fourth coldest game in National Football League history, CNN has reported.

FDNY commissioner pushes for federal action on lithium-ion batteries

Fire department in California employs new MACH Alert system to enhance emergency response time

Retired Massachusetts firefighter invents tool to help fight electric vehicle fires

VIDEO/PHOTO: Electric vehicles (EV) can be a major risk if they catch on fire. Retired Everett Fire Captain Gerry O'Hearn has a new invention to fight those fires. He calls it the Gerry Pipe. Wisconsin fire department gets new vehicle for ice and water rescues

VIDEO: A new, all-terrain vehicle could help save countless lives during ice and water rescues in our area. The Boom Bay Volunteer Fire Department gave our Action 2 News team a first look. NIST Study: Wear and tear may cause firefighter gear to release more 'forever chemicals'

Masonic Hall in Maine destroyed in fire 20 years ago

California: Historical 1930s fire truck restored by Folsom inmates, returned to San Francisco

Myrtle Beach Fire Department one of highest paid in South Carolina after budget adjustment
