Off-duty Philadelphia firefighter reportedly dies of heart attack during Jersey Shore triathlon

A man news reports say was an off-duty firefighter died Sunday morning while competing in a triathlon in Cape May County, officials said. CBS Philly reported the man was an off-duty Philadelphia firefighter. An employee at the Philadelphia Fire Department, who declined to be identified, confirmed that a firefighter had died at the event.

Kentucky fire department at lowest number of firefighters in years

One extra body makes a difference when responding to a fire. Paducah’s fire chief says it takes everyone on a shift to respond to a fire. Texas fire department implements in-house mental health plan

Firefighters are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty, Katy Fire Chief Russell Wilson said. Arizona state budget helps firefighters pitching in during wildfire season

The $11.8 billion budget passed by Arizona lawmakers Monday will double a revolving account set up in 2016 to pay local fire agencies that respond to fires on federal land. California Battalion Chief: First Oceanside Fire Station to Catch Fire in Decades Leaves Building 'Uninhabitable'

Distracted drivers an increasing threat to first responders

New research shows that many drivers are profoundly distracted by their phones when they're going past first responders working accidents on the roadways. New research from the National Safety Council found 71% of drivers admitted to taking photos and texting while driving by emergency workers; that's nearly triple the 24% who admitted to doing it under normal driving conditions.
