Second vaccine shots postponed for Delaware first responders

Delaware is hitting pause on giving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to thousands of first responders in the state. The move affects an estimated 3,000 to 3,500 people, according to Delaware's Fire Prevention Commission. The men and women on the front lines are seeing high COVID-19 call volume and are concerned about when they'll be fully protected from the virus.

1 killed after fire truck in Colorado collides with sedan

VIDEO: One person was killed and two others badly injured after a Denver fire truck collided with a sedan Saturday afternoon. The fire truck was entering the Broadway and Speer intersection at 1:37 p.m. when it t-boned an oncoming car. The crew was en route to a potential structure fire and had its lights and sirens on as it was crossing the intersection, police said.

Fire department major in Oklahoma faces punishment after driving burn patient to the hospital due to ambulance delay

A disciplinary hearing was held Friday afternoon for an Oklahoma City Fire Department Major who rushed a young burn victim to the hospital in his fire engine after waiting 20 minutes for an ambulance. Firefighters with knowledge about the disciplinary action tell KFOR that Maj. Corey Britt has been relieved of his role as a Senior Company Officer at Station 34.

Garage, equipment at home of Maine contractor burns, estimated $1M loss

Georgia Fire Captain Leads Pledge Of Allegiance at Inauguration, Spoken And In Sign Language

Andrea Hall, a career firefighter and union leader from Fulton County, Ga., led the Pledge of Allegiance during the inauguration of President-elect Biden. Hall recited the familiar words of the pledge out loud and in American Sign Language. According to The 19th, a nonprofit news organization, Hall was the first Black woman hired and assigned to a station at the City of Albany Fire Department, and then the first Black woman to serve as fire captain at Fulton County Fire Rescue.

Honor365 exhibit recognizes first responders, celebrates 20 years since 9/11

Young adults who turn 19 this year were born after 9/11, the day in 2001 when planes flew into the World Trade Center and Pentagon killing around 3,000 people. These teens know it as Patriot’s Day. California Firefighters See Red Over Plan to Deactivate, Close Stations

Oakland, Calif., will begin deactivating some of its fire engines and shuttering stations temporarily on Thursday in a budget-cutting move that drew criticism from firefighters and neighboring communities that contract with the city for fire protection. Could Utah become first state to create EMS teams specifically for mental health emergencies?

A lawmaker’s proposal to make Utah the first state to train emergency medical technicians specifically for responding to mental health emergencies received early support in a state Senate committee Wednesday. SB53 would allow EMTs and firefighters to be trained to respond to mental health calls. Then, agencies throughout the state could form teams made up of those trained EMTs, who would be dedicated specifically to mental health emergencies.
